Capítulo 1468: Chapter 1459: The Heart of the Drama (Part 5)
It’s not that outward expression is bad—when it’s ti to explode, you certainly do need to. But in a ninety-minute film, it’s impossible to be at the explosion stage all the ti. There’s hibernation, rises and falls, and the lingering tail-end. These stages require ticulous and rich transitions.
Thinking this way, although she did perform in “Storm” slightly better than Shang Feifei, that was partly due to the advantage of her character setting and also her face. Her face would be the focus in any film unless she deliberately tries to look ugly. In explosive scenes, she has more presence and vitality than Shang Feifei. However, in so delicate transitions, she’s slightly more rigid compared to Shang Feifei. But her appearance is so stunning that audiences overlook those details, only seeing her face and performance.
Bo Yan felt a subtle sense of discordance, but since he was a first-ti director, he didn’t express it imdiately. However, it was clear that both he and Xia Siyu were aware of it at this mont.
Xia Siyu carried herself with poise, had specifically practiced her posture, and studied the script for a long ti, having built up an outer shell. Yet, she was still sowhat superficial. This film is ant to rub away all her sharpness, relying solely on her subtle expressions, slight tonal fluctuations, and minimal movents to convey the character’s emotions.
After all, the character Chen Bailu in the film is only a few days away from the countdown to suicide.
Moreover, Bo Yan and she both felt that if Xia Siyu could portray the character with restraint, conveying the essence entirely through small details, the future major Chinese film awards would certainly be hers. It’s a breakthrough from the outside in, a qualitative leap in her acting skills.
Such guidance is sothing other directors also demand from actors. This is why so film stars perform brilliantly in movies yet fall flat in television dramas. That’s because drama directors seldom polish scenes to this extent, and shooting the sa take dozens of tis is rare. If Xia Siyu were to act in a drama, that take would definitely be one hundred percent approved.
A director who can polish is beneficial, and if Bo Yan were not directing, Xia Siyu’s earlier outburst on set might actually have labeled her as a Drama Tyrant. Future directors might not coach her in acting, nor cast her in the next film. This offers her improvent and isn’t about nitpicking on purpose.
However, since it’s her husband, even if she’s wrong, she still wants him to soothe her!
So she snorted, turned her face away, ignoring him. Bo Yan softly asked her, “Do you want to go back, make so adjustnts, and start over?”
Xia Siyu snorted again, turning her head to the other side.
Bo Yan stood up, “Alright then. How about you take a break, and I’ll ask Aunt to perform instead.”
As soon as he said this term, Xia Siyu looked up at him, her eyes filled with confusion. Bo Yan paused and said, “Not Aunt, is it Great-Aunt? No, it should be Great-Aunt?”
Xia Siyu finally realized he was referring to Li Yiru, and her face couldn’t hold it anymore.
Bo Yan feigned seriousness, “Why laugh? If the two of us had a child, she’d be in the grandparent generation.”
Li Yiru isn’t even thirty yet, and she’s already being called granny. Thinking about this, Xia Siyu tried to suppress her laughter but couldn’t hold it and burst out laughing.
This laugh lted away her earlier facade of cold arrogance.
