Capítulo 1471: Chapter 1462: The Heart of the Drama (Part 8)
In the past, She used to want to compete with Xia Siyu, but after watching a short segnt of the play, what is there to compete for?
If before, Xia Siyu was a sword, cutting through thorns and brambles, capable of anything. Now, She has found that sword sheath, knowing how to hide her sharpness beneath a calm exterior.
The forr Xia Siyu, it could be said, was overshadowed by her own beautiful face. She was too beautiful, with a great figure; whenever She appeared in front of the cara, She would automatically draw people’s attention. Such an image hinted to the audience, attracting them to watch while also dismissing her as just a pretty vase.
But now, upon closer inspection, this vase is actually jade stone carved with complex patterns and openwork; it might even be an artifact, bearing profound historical and cultural significance.
Moreover, She is still so beautiful.
Acting skills cannot be taken away, and as long as She doesn’t ss with her face, as long as She gets the chance, She will definitely stand on this stage again. Li Yiru made a joking remark during an interview at the opening ceremony about coming to “compete” with Xia Siyu. At the ti, it was indeed only to create a topic, but since She said it, there must have been so thought of it in her mind. However, after seeing Xia Siyu’s performance, She completely gave up the idea of competing with her.
But, this short segnt couldn’t reveal much; in the afternoon, it was their turn for a scene together, and She wanted to see what Xia Siyu’s current situation was like.
So people perform well on their own, but when acting with others, they either over-exert or get dragged down, reducing their own performance.
After lunch and a brief rest, the crew resud work.
This ti, Li Yiru was eager to try, having not acted for more than a year. Her mindset for competing with Xia Siyu also involved doing quite a bit of howork after securing the role. Although She hadn’t specifically found soone to practice walking and sitting like Xia Siyu, her attitude remained very serious.
The character She played, Mistress Gu, is a common supporting character setting in Cao Yu’s dramas. The wealthy wives of those tis in China were sowhat like Zhou Fanyi in “Thunderstorm,” or the second wife in “Four Generations Under One Roof.” Although it’s an “antagonist,” it actually has a lot of scenes, and if perford well, can be very striking.
Li Yiru inherently has a seductive sense, along with a stubborn drive to climb upwards, making her perhaps not suitable to play the role of a noble lady, but perfect for this kind of role, almost tailor-made. Unlike Xia Siyu, who has to restrain her performance for the leading role, her role required her to let loose and portray that pretentiousness.
Although She is not as beautiful as Xia Siyu, perhaps her micro-expressions aren’t as strong either. But She absolutely did not want to lose in terms of aura.
In the afternoon, Xia Siyu’s costu was much more elaborate than in the morning; as a leading lady eting a guest, she would certainly dress up, a self-awareness of her socialite role. As for Mistress Gu, it went without saying; both lived in the sa residence, and when they t, they did everything with a facade of propriety.
Before the official filming, the two were rehearsing with the script. They needed to interact, position themselves, drink tea—these all needed to be communicated clearly before filming.
Li Yiru wore a serious expression, while Xia Siyu was laughing and joking, with none of the lancholy nuance outlined in the script.
Li Yiru felt a bit speechless; although She had known Xia Siyu for a long ti, this was their first ti acting in a scene together.
