Xia Siyu and Bo Yan, although they earn a lot, Bo Yan has made several films in recent years that were produced by his own company. Not only did he not take any pay, but he also invested himself, and yet they have not been successfully released.

Although "Sunrise" passed the review, without money for marketing, even if they secured the best slot for the Spring Festival, they couldn’t secure showtis. No showtis in theaters are equivalent to death. Even if your movie is fantastic, if distribution is poor, what can you do if audiences want to watch it but there are no screenings? Although there is still so ti before the Spring Festival slot, it’s almost ti for the theaters to schedule. Bo Yan must prepare early. Without money, they can’t do marketing, and so far, the marketing of the film relies entirely on him and Xia Siyu. The popularity of the two of them accounts for more than half of the film’s marketing expenses.

The review of "Spring Light" still hasn’t passed, and it has been sent back for further revisions. For this film, Bo Yan also suggested using his pay as an investnt, but they still haven’t recouped the cost. The review hasn’t passed yet, let alone marketing—which also costs money.

Broke.

Xia Siyu and Bo Yan grew up in financially sufficient families. If they went out claiming to be broke, they would absolutely get beaten up. Headlines like "Daily Earnings of 2.08 Million" would hamr them, leaving no chance for recovery.

They never imagined there would be a day when they entered the entertainnt industry—this supposedly lucrative field—and still ended up broke.

Bo Yan and Han Yifan’s newly founded film company initially made so money from small-budget projects. However, because they’re small-budget, the actual profits are limited. Investing in a major production alone is difficult, let alone investing in several, with none having passed approval and none converted into tangible returns.

Previously, Bo Yan didn’t want Xia Siyu to touch the small savings. After all, he could pour all his money into it, but there must be one person in the family who still has funds. They cannot risk everything, leaving them no room for turnaround if any unforeseen incidents occur.

But now, in this situation, with no money or capital, what should they do?

When Xia Siyu suggested investing, Bo Yan imdiately refused: "No need."

"It’s not about needing or not. I am also involved in this film, I can’t just watch it end poorly, can I?" This film was actually sothing she wanted to dedicate to her mother; she is a part of it and can’t just ignore it.

Bo Yan shook his head: "Even if you invest, how much can it be? A film is a bottomless pit. You may think adding ten million is enough, but in the end, it may require a hundred million. And what about post-production and promotion? Every part needs money."

"Then what do you suggest?"

Bo Yan thought about it and gritted his teeth: "I’ll mortgage the villa. Anyway, we still have this apartnt, having a roof is always good."

Xia Siyu was sowhat reluctant: "Does it really have to be this way?"

If they mortgage the house to the bank and can’t repay it on ti, it would really be taken back. Moreover, it was his premarital property, and he has full ownership.

"Let’s do it. Right now, the film is more important."

Xia Siyu stopped him: "For now, we can continue shooting. Just wait for one more week. If we still can’t get any investnt after a week... we can talk then."

Bo Yan nodded, but he couldn’t get any money from the Bo Family. His grandfather’s health has been poor lately, and the company is basically handed over to his uncle. His uncle and cousin tightly control the company, especially the finances.

Prior to this, Bo Yan also raced with his cousin and won a watch from him, which he exchanged for eight million as an investnt for "Sunrise". But that’s the most it could be appraised for. Even if they add eight million more, it’s like a drop in the bucket for filming and can’t solve urgent problems.

On Xia Siyu’s side, she never dealt with financial matters. She used to have Qin Baizhou, and now it’s Wei Jingjing who handles these. Basically, she takes on endorsents, film projects, and variety shows, but doesn’t engage in other investnts. Although she kept all her earnings after leaving Huixing, her work was delayed in the first year due to negative news, and right now she’s in a stage of rebuilding. She does have liquidity, but Bo Yan said not to touch it, and it’s also not enough.

At the Xia Family over the past three months, Xia Youbiao has fully recovered, having undergone two skin graft surgeries. Although his face is disfigured, his life has been saved, though he still needs special care in the hospital. On the Xia Family side, Miss Tong and her three children are in a power struggle with other relatives. Neither side could present a convincing list of company managers, so they had to appoint a professional manager to take charge. Both sides are trying to control key departnts of the company while strictly preventing Xia Siyu from getting any company funds.

Between filming, Xia Siyu also visited her father at the hospital. Despite Miss Tong and Xia Sicai often badmouthing her in front of him, Xia Youbiao was always happy when Xia Siyu visited.

The company wasn’t solely run by the couple; Han Yifan also helped out. The film was already halfway shot; they couldn’t just let it fail at the final critical mont. Besides seeking investnt, his main goal was to handle the distribution of "Sunrise". He aid to sign a more beneficial agreent with theater chains to increase their share by more than ten percent during revenue splitting, and it took a lot of effort to secure a slot.

But after a week passed, countless drinks were had, and even though Bo Yan personally went to the TV station to seek additional investnt, the results were minimal. Han Yifan managed to secure the release slot and distribution of "Sunrise". Xia Siyu had no experience in these project negotiations, so she could only wait.

That day, the film crew didn’t have any tasks for her, and with Bo Yan out of town, she had no work and decided to go to the hospital.

Xia Youbiao was still in the hospital’s sterile room. Even though he could move back ho after two skin graft surgeries, the Xia Family was worried about accidents, so they kept him hospitalized for recovery. After being rescued, he was able to get out of bed and take walks; he could rest in the hospital. Xia Siyu visited him but didn’t dare buy flowers, fearing that pollen might irritate his skin. Usually talkative, she was as silent as a rock in front of him.

Every ti she went, she would bring a book and sit by his bed until other family mbers ca to look after him.

This ti, maybe it was because her mind was in disarray or it was done absentmindedly, but she realized that instead of a book, she had brought her script to the ward.

She arrived at the ward, poured a glass of water for Xia Youbiao, washed so fruit, and was just about to read the script when a call ca in. She stepped out of the ward to answer it, and Xia Youbiao caught a glimpse of the script.

In the past, he always found soone to look after his daughter, worrying she’d be bullied. But now, due to his illness, he hadn’t had ti to see what his daughter had been up to. As soon as he opened the script, even though pseudonyms were used, he instantly recognized it as his story.
