Director Ji felt helpless as even Xia Siyu, with her bold brows and large eyes, turned against him: “Fine then, I’ll give you half a day off, but you must arrive on set at 1 PM sharp tomorrow.”
“Alright!” The group scattered in excitent, with plenty of ti to spare. Xia Siyu wasn’t in a hurry, leisurely packing her gear. Upon returning to the hotel, as expected, she saw many actors from the crew with plans, each walking briskly, while she herself remained relaxed, slowly getting out of the car and strolling back.
The male supporting actor had worked with her before and they were on good terms. He asked her with a smile, “No date for the great beauty?”
Xia Siyu spread her hands, giving off a “Do I look like soone who has a date?” vibe. The male supporting actor laughed and quickly got into a car, off to enjoy a date with his wife.
Looking around the parking lot, Xia Siyu noticed many unfamiliar cars—probably paparazzi.
Indeed, today was Christmas Eve after all. One could guess with their toes that many couples would be out and about, a pri opportunity for the paparazzi to be active.
She went upstairs, quickly took a bath, and then changed clothes before heading to Wei Jingjing’s room. About half an hour later, the paparazzi noticed Xia Siyu’s assistant wearing a mask, carrying a plastic bag, and wearing slippers, seemingly heading out to buy supper for her.
Indeed, they saw her enter a nearby convenience store and then a restaurant, so they stopped following.
When Xia Siyu ca out of another door of the restaurant, she imdiately got into a ride-share car.
She had swapped clothes with Wei Jingjing and wore slippers. The plastic bag she carried actually contained her own shoes and clothes. Xia Siyu and Wei Jingjing were close in height, with Wei Jingjing just slightly heavier, which wasn’t hard to emulate; just wearing sothing a bit thicker was enough to pass. With this switch, the paparazzi couldn’t recognize her no matter what.
It was now 9:30 PM, and many shopping centers had already closed, but Xia Siyu was headed to a local church with over a hundred years of history. On Christmas Eve night, there would be a mass, the choir would sing, and it was said that the Priest would hand out candy.
She wasn’t religious, but she enjoyed joining in the fun. Nearby the church was the famous bar street which operated all night long, bustling even deep into the night.
Further east lay a river. Along the riverside pronade, fireworks would be set up for New Year’s Day. However, today, Xia Siyu just wanted to stroll the streets with Bo Yan, eat so street food, and see if there was a chance to grab so candy at the church, enjoying the date.
Both disguised well; to make identification easier, Xia Siyu wore a bright red down jacket with a red hat and even red socks, wrapped up like Santa Claus.
Originally she thought wearing such an outfit would stand out, but upon arriving realized that the crowd was full of festive people in red. Not just her, others also wanted to bask in the holiday spirit. Plus, Christmas Eve had beco localized; people even sold apples based on the homophonic play on “peace.” But in such places, selling plain apples attracted no buyers, even if they were packaged nicely. However, candy apples were a different story.
In front of the candy apple stall, there was a crowd of both adults and children. Xia Siyu hadn’t eaten much for dinner, and everything looked enticing. Plus, she was in disguise and not afraid of being recognized, so she went over to take a look.
Seeing one couple, the girl acted coquettishly, and the guy picked out a large, bright red one for her, Xia Siyu felt envious.
