Early the next morning.
Finally, the ti had co. It was Xia Siyu’s last scene in the crew, and if all went well, it would be her last day on set too.
The crew began with Zhang Fan’s injury while shooting this scene and it would end with Xia Siyu’s filming of this sa scene.
It was also the most challenging, with the most beautiful exterior shots, and at the sa ti, the most dangerous.
Others might not know, but Xia Siyu herself had practiced many tis, turning the movents into muscle mory. She found it easy to empathize in dramatic scenes, imrsing herself into the character. But martial arts scenes were different—she used to struggle as focusing on drama made it hard to pay attention to the physical movents.
But after practicing for so long, not until Director Ji’s scenes were completed did she feel that she was truly the female constable from the movie. Her emotions, her fluid and graceful movents, had beco extensions of herself. She no longer needed to consciously evoke emotions; they would co out naturally in her performance.
The crew had a communal breakfast today, so Xia Siyu got up early, without anyone accompanying her. Bo Yan wasn’t there, neither was Xia Youbiao, and of course, Qin Baizhou was absent too. During the roundtable eting with everyone, Director Ji chatted with her: “Siyu, do you have any schedule availability? I plan to start shooting an urban action film soon, which might involve so dangerous stunts. I think it suits you.”
These action films were originally to be fild back-to-back with Zhang Fan, as Director Ji, like many directors, tended to stick with the sa actors once he was used to working with them. Unfortunately, with Zhang Fan’s accident, these projects either had to be shelved or other actors had to replace him. He had never considered Xia Siyu for these roles, as there had been rumors of her being a “diva, unprofessional, and fond of stirring up scandals”. Plus, with her delicate appearance, she had always been cast in youthful campus and urban romances; no one had ever thought she would do action films.
But this ti, after working with her, Director Ji was genuinely impressed. She was hardworking, unspoilt, and committed. Even if she backed out last minute, he had decided she was the one to cast.
Xia Siyu was overjoyed and naturally nodded: “Yes, I do. My agent is here actually, I can have him help coordinate the schedule.”
In fact, she still had quite a few scripts on her hands. After all, she was a top actress in China and her acting was more than competent. But Director Ji was indeed a big na; he knew how to make films and how to nurture talent. Sotis for an actor to succeed, they need a director to refine them, and she had learned a lot from shooting martial arts scenes this ti. If he was willing to cast her, of course she would try her best to free up her schedule.
It was quite fortunate, since it was during the pandemic. Although China had recovered fairly well, the film and television industry had certainly cooled down compared to before, allowing her to squeeze in so free ti. She imdiately summoned Qin Baizhou over to discuss the details with Director Ji.
During the break in the discussion, Qin Baizhou couldn’t help but glance back at Xia Siyu. She looked radiant and energetic, not at all like she had overexerted herself the night before, which probably ant she hadn’t been in the mood for cooing with Bo Yan and had rested upon returning to the hotel.
He certainly knew that it was normal for them to be in a relationship and for things to happen. But as much as he was aware, he couldn’t help feeling insanely jealous when it happened right under his nose. The fact that nothing happened last night made him feel a bit calr.
After breakfast, the entire crew set out. Xia Siyu had cards for staff mbers arranged by Wei Jingjing for Bo Yan and Song Fengzhi, and after so thought, she sent a ssage to her father as well.
