"Mai, where did you see it?"

"On a local newspaper in Bluzell City."

Upon hearing this, Kiki worriedly asked, "Mai, do you think Sixth Master knows we’re hiding here?"

Sienna knew Adrian well. He was not a patient man. If he discovered their whereabouts, he would have brought people after them by now.

"If he knew I was hiding here, do you think we’d still be able to chat peacefully like this?"

"True. If Sixth Master knew, he would have captured us by now. But for so reason, I’ve been feeling uneasy lately, as if sothing’s about to happen."

Kiki furrowed her brow, her face twisted in worry. Seeing her expression, Sienna teased, "Don’t frown. You look like an old woman."

"Have you ever seen such a beautiful old woman?" Kiki retorted, her mouth growing sharper under Sienna’s influence.

"There’s no point worrying about it. We’ll deal with whatever cos our way."

After seeing the divorce statent, Sienna had been thinking about Adrian all day, her head throbbing from it. She didn’t want to think about him anymore.

"Anyway, you have Curly now. Even if we’re caught, Sixth Master wouldn’t dare to punish you."

Sienna laughed, "At most, he’ll lock in the snake room. Actually, I’m not afraid of snakes anymore. I never told Adrian that."

Kiki saw that Sienna could still joke about the situation, so she assud everything was fine. She let out a sigh and said, "I’ll go make dinner."

"I want hot pot today."

"Okay."

With only Sienna and her daughter left in the room, Sienna looked into her daughter’s eyes, so similar to Adrian’s. Her smile disappeared.

"Curly, do you think your father really divorced lanie, or is he just playing again?"

"..."

"Curly, if... I an, if he really divorced lanie, do you think I should forgive your father?"

When she first saw the divorce statent, her heart had wavered.

Curly was too young, spending most of her ti sleeping. Right now, she was lying in Sienna’s arms, yawning, revealing her pink gums. Her eyes were watery.

"Your father wanted a son, so if he knew you were a girl, he’d probably not want you..."

Curly blinked. Her eyelids grew heavier and heavier, and she could no longer keep them open. She soon fell into a deep sleep. Kiki and Lucas spoiled her, constantly holding her as she slept. As a result, the little one needed to be held and rocked to sleep. She would only allow herself to be put down once she was fast asleep.

When Sienna put Curly down, she cried out, "Naughty little girl."

「 」

Perhaps because of the cold, Sienna loved hot pot.

The three of them sat around the table, Lucas enjoying a bit of vodka as they ate, their bodies warm and the atmosphere lively.

After learning the whole story from Sienna, Lucas felt her troubles could be easily resolved. "Actually, it’s not difficult to find out whether Adrian and lanie are really divorced or just pretending."

Kiki excitedly asked, "How would you do that?"

"I can have friends in Abyanabad help find out."

However, Sienna disagreed, "Only Adrian and lanie know if they’re really divorced. If Adrian is trying to deceive again, the information others find out will only be what he wants to know."

"Then, what should we do?"

"Let’s take it one step at a ti." Sienna lost her appetite, put down her chopsticks, and went back to check on her daughter.

Kiki was worried and said to Sienna’s retreating figure, "Mai, you didn’t eat enough. Have so more."

「 」

Sienna went to Bluzell City again, this ti on her own.

With her heart weighed down by concerns, Sienna didn’t feel like shopping. Instead, she headed straight to the Departnt Store to buy necessities. Curly was out of diapers, and she had to buy more. If she didn’t, Kiki would be upset.

The Departnt Store was several stops away, so Sienna took a bus.

There was an empty seat behind a mother and daughter, so Sienna sat down. As soon as she did, she heard the blonde little girl in front of her ask,

"Mom, why don’t I have a father like other children? Where is my dad? Why doesn’t he co to see ?"

Her heart trembled.

She sat diagonally across from the little girl, a perfect view of her delicate half-profile. The girl appeared to be about five or six, an age when parental care and love were most needed.

"Rember, you don’t have a father! You only have a mother!"

Sienna had thought the mother would explain gently and subtly, perhaps saying sothing like, ’Your father went to a faraway place.’ She hadn’t expected the mother to so openly express her hatred for the child’s father in front of her.

"Other children have fathers, and I have one too. Where is my dad?" The little girl must have felt wronged, insisting on finding her father.

Having lived in the orphanage for a long ti, Sienna understood that feeling all too well. A father seed godlike; his presence would an no more bullying, no more grievances, and no more hunger.

Her greatest regret in life was never having ridden on her father’s shoulders to visit temple fairs or attend the Lantern Festival.

She still rembered the Lantern Festival when she was five. She and Drew had sneaked out of the orphanage and seen a little girl riding on her father’s shoulders, holding a candied haw. Sienna had cried with envy.

"Your father is a bastard! He’s dead!"

Seeing the little girl almost in tears, Sienna couldn’t help but bla the mother. Regardless of the issues between adults, she shouldn’t speak that way in front of a child, especially when that "bastard" was the child’s father.

Sienna thought of Curly. If Curly were to ask the sa question, she would use the most beautiful, well-intentioned words to "deceive" her.

She would tell Curly that her father was the most handso, brave, and capable person in the world. Every child needed idols, and their parents were their idols.

"WAH..." The little girl burst into tears. Sienna clenched her heart, hearing the girl cry, "My dad isn’t dead, and he’s not a bastard. I want to find my dad..."

The mother angrily took the girl away, leaving Sienna’s gaze to grow heavy.

Upon reaching her stop, Sienna stepped off the bus and paused near the station sign.

Yes, she had forgotten. If she praised that bastard Adrian too much, and Curly insisted on finding him and living with him, what would she do?

She would never allow Curly to find Adrian. She had fought so hard to give birth to this child. How could she let Adrian benefit so easily?

What should she say then?

Adrian is dead?!
