People like them, who lived on a knife’s edge, knew their lives were fragile. When they had a bit of money, most liked to spend it on won or gambling, but Adrian Desmond never did.
Over ti, various rumors about Adrian Desmond had spread.
One rumor claid Adrian was impotent. An even more believable version asserted that Adrian preferred n.
"What are you talking about back there? Hurry up!" Adrian Desmond yelled at the n dawdling behind them.
"Coming, coming..."
Despite their words, the n behind still dawdled. Sienna Johnson and Selena Robertson seed to hit it off, chatting enthusiastically and leaving Adrian Desmond feeling ignored. It was a rare sight to see Adrian looking so awkward, and everyone wanted to laugh but didn’t dare.
"...You were an orphan too?" Selena Robertson asked in surprise, having heard that Sienna Johnson had also spent six years in an orphanage.
Sienna Johnson clung to Selena Robertson’s arm, a faint, bitter smile on her face. "I’m not actually an orphan..." She had parents; they had simply lost her once.
Nevertheless, she was grateful for her ti in the orphanage. Although life was materially poor, it had allowed her to et her big brother, Drew. When Drew Rafael’s birth father found him and took him away, they were separated. As Drew Rafael left, he cried and promised he would definitely co back to find her. However, Sienna Johnson was adopted by her adoptive parents at the age of six and left Verdalton. After many twists and turns, she could never return.
Back in the orphanage, the other children all knew she was Drew Rafael’s ’little wife’. At that ti, Sienna Johnson had also set her heart on marrying Drew Rafael when she grew up. But fate plays tricks, and they could no longer find each other.
"If you’re not an orphan, how did you end up living in an orphanage?"
Having rarely found soone she could truly talk to, Sienna Johnson was eager to chat more with Selena Robertson. However, with Adrian Desmond following behind, she didn’t want him to learn too much about her. "We’ve talked enough about . What about you?" Sienna skillfully changed the subject.
Selena Robertson tucked a strand of hair from her cheek behind her ear. "There’s not much to say about . I lived in the orphanage until I was older, then I started working at a coffee shop... That day, it suddenly started raining heavily, and I didn’t have an umbrella. I took a shortcut down a secluded path, and that’s when they captured ..."
At this point, Selena Robertson beca very emotional. "Mai, thank you for saving . If it weren’t for you, I would have been tortured to death by them."
Sienna Johnson gently shook her head, then turned to look at Adrian Desmond, whose face was gloomy, and said with a smile, "If you want to thank soone, thank Sixth Master. After all, he was the one who saved us... Sixth Master, wouldn’t you agree?"
Adrian Desmond said coldly, "So, you still rember I saved you?"
"Of course, I’ll rember it for the rest of my life." Sienna Johnson didn’t want to be indebted to Adrian Desmond. He had saved her life twice, and she was repaying him with her body.
But one day, she will have to leave.
Adrian Desmond has his life, and Sienna Johnson has hers.
Sienna Johnson is not Mai!
She couldn’t be Adrian Desmond’s concubine.
"Sixth Master, soone’s coming," Tatu said alertly.
Sienna Johnson didn’t hear anything, but Selena Robertson, terrified, instinctively clutched Sienna’s arm. "Mai, have they caught up with us? What should we do?"
"It’s okay," Sienna Johnson comforted the frightened Selena Robertson, though inwardly she wasn’t so sure. This land is too dangerous, and if Adrian Desmond hadn’t been following behind them, she wouldn’t have been in the mood to chat so leisurely.
Tatu lay flat, pressing his ear to the ground. After a mont, he stood up and reported to Adrian Desmond, "Sixth Master, judging by the sound, quite a few people are approaching."
Adrian Desmond looked around. They were at the edge of a jungle. They could hide inside, but Adrian Desmond was unfamiliar with the terrain and unwilling to risk it.
"Get back to the car, as fast as you can!"
Their vehicle was parked on the other side of the bridge. If they could cross this grassy area and the bridge, they would reach the car. Once inside, they would be safe.
Adrian Desmond squatted down and said to Sienna Johnson, "Get on!"
"I can walk myself!"
"Get on!" Adrian Desmond commanded.
Sienna Johnson knew the situation was urgent, so she climbed onto Adrian Desmond’s back. Adrian then said to Tatu, "Tatu, you carry her!" ’Her,’ of course, referred to Selena Robertson.
"Yes!"
Adrian Desmond carried Sienna Johnson, and Tatu carried Selena Robertson. The group ran forward. Sienna knew she wasn’t heavy, but Adrian, carrying a grown woman like her, was still as swift as if he were flying. Not only did he run fast, but his endurance was also excellent.
They ran for over ten minutes before spotting the bridge in the distance. Unfortunately, their luck ran out; there were already people on the other side.
"Who are they?" Sienna Johnson asked.
The people on the other side were all dressed in military uniforms and holding guns. Two green Jeeps blocked the bridgehead. There was also a man as fat as a pig—so fat, in fact, that he appeared to have no neck.
"Weren’t you looking to get revenge on Uncle? That fatso is Uncle," Adrian Desmond said.
Sienna Johnson hadn’t expected to encounter Uncle under such circumstances. "What are they planning to do?"
"How would I know?"
Adrian Desmond set Sienna Johnson down and started walking towards the people across the bridge. Sienna Johnson grabbed his hand and shook her head. "Don’t go over there; they have guns."
Adrian Desmond laughed. He touched her face and asked cheerfully, "You ungrateful little thing, you actually care about ?"
Sienna Johnson’s expression stiffened; she was in no mood for his jokes.
Adrian Desmond’s expression turned serious. "Don’t worry, I won’t let you beco a widow!"
Adrian Desmond walked onto the bridge alone. On their side of the bridge, Walter Klein and his n raised their pistols. Walter Klein said to Troy Duncan, "Freddie, identify their sniper. The mont their sniper fires, your bullet must be faster!"
"In this world, I’ve yet to et a sniper faster than !" Troy Duncan was extrely confident. He received a fierce glare from Walter Klein, who reminded him, "Sixth Master’s life is in your hands! If anything happens to him, none of us will forgive you!"
"Got it!" Troy Duncan’s attitude beca much more serious.
Sienna Johnson was also worried. The opposing group numbered more than fifty, all in camouflage and ard with long rifles.
Walter Klein and Aaron Faber both appeared refined and gentlemanly. Then there was Xavier Young, who was young and looked rather unreliable. Compared to the organized military force across the bridge, Sienna Johnson truly couldn’t see what chance of victory their side had.
If Adrian Desmond was also captured by the enemy, and she fell into Uncle’s hands, her fate would undoubtedly be worse than death!
