"Is this a portrait of ?" Adrian Desmond asked excitedly.
"The light is too dim. I can’t see clearly. Shine your phone light for ," Sienna Johnson directed.
Adrian turned on his phone, and now he could see more clearly. It really was him! She really drew him.
It was a simple sketch, but it portrayed his likeness perfectly. Adrian looked up at her as she was preoccupied with her drawing, the gentleness in her eyes so profound he felt he could almost wring water from it.
Her side profile was gorgeous, and her nose was exquisitely shaped, making the curve of her side profile especially stunning.
"Done..." Sienna looked up, her eyes eting Adrian’s. He stole a quick peck on her lips, then took the drawing from her hand to admire it closely.
"How much must you love to draw so well?"
Sienna shot him a glare. "Shouldn’t you be praising my artistic skill instead?"
"Abyanabad’s most famous artist drew a portrait of , but it wasn’t as good as yours."
Sienna was an amateur, after all. How could she possibly surpass a famous artist from Abyanabad? His complints, however, were enough to give her vanity a small boost.
"Really?"
"Absolutely."
"So, when I retire, can I beco an artist?"
"You can be an artist even now."
Sienna shook her head and said regretfully, "I can’t right now. I’ll have to wait until Curly is old enough to take over the Johnson family business. Only then can I do what I love..."
Adrian was sowhat of a traditionalist deep down. He believed that providing for the family was a man’s responsibility, while won should marry and devote their ti to their husbands and children.
"So you want Curly to inherit the family business?"
"Yes."
"I object!"
Sienna frowned. "What are you objecting to?"
"My daughter was born to enjoy life! I won’t let her work herself to the bone all day like you! My fortune is enough for her to squander for several lifetis. I couldn’t control you, but there’s no way in hell I’m letting my daughter exhaust herself!" Adrian stated emphatically.
Adrian had expected Sienna to be angry at his words, but to his surprise, she didn’t seem upset at all.
"When I was pregnant, you kept saying ’son, son.’ I thought you didn’t like daughters. Now you’re so fond of our little girl."
"I never said I didn’t like daughters. Even if you gave birth to a Little Monster, I’d still love them. My concern was just that once a daughter grows up, she becos part of soone else’s family, which is such a loss for ."
"You..."
"Let’s get things straight, Sienna," Adrian felt the need to clarify. "I don’t want my daughter to fight her way through the business world like a man, nor do I want her to beco so ’strong, career-driven woman.’ So, you’d better get rid of those ideas! I’m not even worried about having no one to inherit my vast fortune. The Johnsons should stop expecting my daughter to take over their ager business."
"Yes, yes, Sixth Master, you’re wealthy and powerful. Compared to you, the Johnson family is rely a small artisan workshop," Sienna conceded.
Adrian glanced at Sienna and said, "You live such a burdenso life. You think too much, worry too much. You should just focus on doing what needs to be done while you’re alive. Why worry so much about what happens after you’re gone?"
"Sigh..." Adrian’s words hit close to ho. Sienna truly was living a tiring life.
"Adrian, do you think we could have another child besides Curly?"
Adrian knew that Sienna’s health hadn’t fully recovered after giving birth to their daughter. The subsequent car accident had further weakened her constitution, making the likelihood of another pregnancy very slim.
He grasped her hand firmly. "We have Curly. Even if we don’t have other children, I have no regrets."
Sienna turned to look at him, then rested her head on his broad shoulder. She knew he had always wanted a son and was just trying to comfort her.
Over the years, she had changed, and this man had changed a lot too. At least, beneath his domineering exterior, he had learned to cherish and be considerate of her.
「They’d arrived at the hospital.」
Walter Klein parked the car by the roadside. He didn’t interrupt them. Sienna noticed and said to Adrian, "We’re here. Let’s go in."
Adrian looked at her, reluctant to tear his eyes away.
"We’ve arrived at the hospital. When are you going in?"
"Mm." Adrian reluctantly withdrew his gaze. He had planned to stay at her place tonight, not leave at all. The feeling of holding her, sleeping until dawn, was just too wonderful.
"Oh, right, rember to get the diamond necklace back. You wouldn’t want Madam Phillips to think I’m greedy and misappropriated it, would you?"
Adrian said protectively, "It’s just so trivial necklace. Only the Phillips family would treat it like a treasure."
Sienna coaxed, "They say it’s their family heirloom, ant for the daughter-in-law. It wouldn’t be good if it’s lost. You’re the one who lost it. If you can’t find it..."
"You knew it was for the daughter-in-law, and you still accepted it?"
"I only just found out myself! If I had known, I would never have accepted it in the first place."
"Who knows what you were really thinking?"
"I genuinely had no such feelings for Noah Phillips. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have agreed to marry Kenneth back then. I accepted that necklace before I even knew Kenneth," Sienna explained.
"Kenneth, Kenneth... you say his na so affectionately. Don’t forget all the terrible things he did..." Adrian reminded her, not forgetting to ntion Kenneth Brown’s misdeeds.
Sienna glared at him. There were so things she’d rather not confront him about. He was like a thief crying ’stop thief!’ He was clearly the one who had orchestrated everything, yet Kenneth Brown was the one who took the bla. How unfair!
"You don’t still have feelings for him, do you?"
"Sixth Master, you’re overthinking things."
"You say his na so affectionately, so why do you always call by my full na?"
"Because your na only has two characters!"
Adrian: ...
"Alright, I’m done bickering with you. You should get to the hospital. I have to work early tomorrow, and it’s almost ten." As they spoke, ten minutes had slipped by in the car.
"I’ll pick you up tomorrow. Don’t work overti; leave early."
"Mm, alright."
Adrian said so, but he didn’t move. "Give Brother a kiss, and then I’ll go."
Sienna gently pushed his face away. "No way..." Walter is sitting right there in the front seat! Can’t he be less clingy?
"If you don’t kiss Brother, Brother isn’t going back to the hospital."
Sienna quickly pecked him on the cheek, as if afraid he really wouldn’t go to the hospital.
That wasn’t enough of a reward, Adrian thought. He pulled her closer, kissing her fiercely. Walter had already discreetly gotten out of the car. With him gone, Adrian beca even more unrestrained, acting as if he wanted to strip her clothes off and take her right there in the car.
"Adrian, stop fooling around!"
"Call Brother."
"No way..."
"You won’t, huh? If you don’t call Brother, I’ll take you right here in this car!"
Sienna smacked him in annoyance, then, her face flushing as she coaxed, "Brother, my dear Brother, please hurry to the hospital."
Adrian gave her breast a firm squeeze, his eyes glinting fiercely.
