Sienna Johnson didn’t send an invitation to the Stewart Family for her wedding this ti. Still upset about Sabrina Johnson stealing the formula previously, the rift between the two families was now completely laid bare.
Upon hearing this, William Stewart smashed his favorite tea set.
Regret filled Frederick Stewart. If only he had chosen Sienna over Sabrina back then! he thought. The Stewart family would be in a far better place now. A man should marry a wife for her virtue and take a concubine for her beauty. He truly regretted abandoning Sienna and choosing that fool, Sabrina!
"Frederick, where are you off to again?" Sabrina Johnson chased after him. Frederick entered the bathroom and slamd the door shut, leaving Sabrina standing outside.
Recently, Frederick had taken a liking to a rising starlet. Sabrina knew she had been struggling to get pregnant herself. She feared that if the starlet bore Frederick a child, her own position would be threatened.
"Frederick, I was just upset for you. Sienna didn’t invite our family to her wedding—isn’t that a slap in the face? She deserves an unhappy marriage; it’s karma." Sabrina softened her tone, trying to win back his affection. Her life depended on him. Without his affection, her place in the Stewart family would be in jeopardy.
The bathroom door suddenly swung open. A spark of joy lit in Sabrina’s heart as Frederick dragged her in. "Frederick, what’s wrong?" she asked.
He said nothing.
"MMH..." Sothing was abruptly shoved into Sabrina’s wide-open mouth. She was startled for a mont, then beca compliant.
Frederick imagined she was Sienna and moved passionately.
Adrian Desmond’s face was grim, unapproachable. Who would be in a good mood after handling such a ss the day after their wedding, when they should be enjoying their honeymoon with their new wife?
"Even though the patient’s condition appears dire, the knife missed her heart. Her life is no longer in danger. With proper care, she’ll be discharged soon," the doctor inford Adrian Desmond.
"How soon?"
The doctor sized up Adrian. "At least a month."
"Can the patient travel by plane in this condition?"
"As long as necessary dical personnel and equipnt are available on the flight, it’s possible."
"Then, discharge her today," Adrian stated.
The doctor looked at Adrian and suggested from a professional standpoint, "Even though the patient is out of critical danger, she’s still very weak. I recomnd she stay in the hospital to recuperate for a while longer."
"I understand."
Adrian was determined to send lanie Carpenter back to Abyanabad. Given that Abyanabad’s dical facilities were no less excellent than this place, lanie would receive equally good care there.
Walter Klein arranged for a dical flight. Adrian called Jule. A woman, evidently still half asleep, answered the call. "Who is this? Jule is still asleep. Can you call back later?"
"Have Jule take the call!" Adrian ordered.
The woman was taken aback by Adrian’s intimidating tone and handed the phone to a groggy Jule. Irritated by the interruption of his sleep, Jule asked, "Who is this?"
"Adrian."
"What the fuck—why are you calling this early?"
"It’s already ten o’clock!"
"So what? I’m still sleeping!"
Jule had completely given up on himself. Adrian didn’t bother with small talk and got straight to the point. "lanie has a ntal illness. I’m going to admit her to the Abyanabad Psychiatric Hospital. As for your son, Devin Desmond, it’s your responsibility to take him in!"
Adrian wasn’t planning on looking after Jule’s son anymore.
"That kid has never called ’Father,’ so how am I supposed to be his dad? If lanie is going to a psychiatric hospital, just send that little bastard in with her," Jule said cold-heartedly.
"Jule, are you even human? Devin Desmond is your son!"
"Heh... Adrian, the ss I’m in now is all thanks to you, isn’t it? I have no ambition left. I’m just living one day at a ti..." Jule said, his voice full of self-abandonnt.
His father had taken a young wife, who bore him a son. The old man, growing senile with age, intended to leave the entire family fortune to this younger son. How could Jule and his mother agree to that? The resulting family feud led to mutual destruction. Jule’s family, once imnsely wealthy, saw their business plumt and were now struggling just to stay afloat.
Jule’s astute mother had already transferred all the company’s funds out. Now, Jule’s family business was nothing but an empty shell. His father despised Jule and his mother, and the family had already collapsed from within.
"You claid to love lanie and asked for my blessing all those years ago. It’s only been a few years; how could your feelings change so quickly, Jule? Where did all your sincerity go?" Adrian asked sarcastically.
"I’m tired of loving lanie, and I don’t plan on continuing to do so. I’m very happy with won to my left and right now. Why should I bother with a woman like her and spoil my fun?"
"In reality, lanie isn’t all that great. If Adrian Desmond doesn’t want her, then how good could she be for anyone else...?"
"Jule, shut up!"
"I want to go back to sleep. You can do whatever you want with lanie and Devin. Toss them into the sea to feed sharks for all I care. I wouldn’t have any objections. Just don’t bother again."
"Adrian, I don’t want to talk to you at all! Don’t call again in the future!" Jule hung up on Adrian, leaving him furious.
In this world, only Sienna and Jule dared to hang up on him.
He realized he’d been too good-natured these past few years. That’s why they all thought he was a pushover!
"Jule, I won’t let you get away with this!"
Jule was, after all, Devin’s father, and Adrian had never dealt with him too harshly. Otherwise, Jule wanting won to his left and right? He could only dream!
"Dammit!"
Adrian was having a terrible day. If it weren’t for lanie making such a scene, he should have been on his honeymoon with Sienna right now. But now, everything was ruined.
Right now, Adrian really wanted to kill a few people to vent his frustration.
lanie Carpenter insisted on seeing Adrian, but he repeatedly refused. No matter how much commotion she caused, even threatening to jump off a roof, he remained unmoved.
The wedding was over. Owen Hunter was returning ho with his son, and Adrian asked him to take lanie back with him.
The security at Abyanabad’s Santa Maria Psychiatric Hospital was comparable to the city’s prison. Once lanie was admitted, she couldn’t dream of getting out to cause trouble again unless doctors certified her as ntally sound.
Adrian thought that place was perfect for lanie.
"Has that bastard Jule actually abandoned his own son?" asked Owen Hunter.
"Don’t ntion his na!"
"Jule is such a coward!" Owen remarked, his tone laced with disgust.
"I’ve already contacted the director of Santa Maria Psychiatric Hospital," Adrian explained. "When you arrive, take lanie directly there. Send Devin to a boarding school. I’ll arrange for a nanny for him." With that, he temporarily entrusted lanie and Devin to Owen Hunter’s care.
