No wonder Sienna Johnson had passed out. Her own beloved father’s bones had been dug out—an ordeal unbearable for anyone.
Sienna remained unconscious, and Adrian Desmond couldn’t leave her side. However, Dexter Johnson’s remains needed imdiate attention. So, he called Walter Klein and Aiden Howard, instructing them to go to the cetery and ensure the proper handling of Dexter’s bones.
Walter and Aiden were resourceful and had complentary temperants. With the two of them handling it, Adrian felt more at ease.
"...My father-in-law’s tomb has been desecrated. I’m not clear on the exact situation right now. When you get there, assess the scene and handle it flexibly."
"Yes, Sixth Master!"
The two n were equally shocked by the news. What kind of hatred would drive soone to dig up a grave? they wondered.
"Rember, secure my father-in-law’s remains first. We’ll discuss everything else at length later!"
"Yes!"
"Walter, go find Aaron!" Adrian ordered Walter before they departed.
"I’m on it." Walter dared not delay. Upon receiving Adrian’s instructions, he imdiately went to find Aaron Faber.
Aiden glanced at the unconscious Sienna, a similar wave of indignation rising within him. I thought I was bad, he mused, but there are people far worse than . To desecrate soone’s Ancestral Tomb... that’s a truly heinous act.
As Walter and Aiden left, Aiden saw Curly standing by the door. He patted her head gently and comforted her, "Your mom will be fine."
Curly was frightened. She stood by the door in a daze, watching from afar. Soon, the doctor arrived, and the room descended into chaos. In the confusion, no one rembered that Curly was supposed to go to kindergarten.
Kathryn saw Dr. Blake and led him to Sienna’s bedside, saying anxiously, "Dr. Blake, please check on our Miss quickly. She’s been unconscious for over ten minutes..."
Dr. Blake was the Johnson Family’s physician. Adrian was taken aback when he saw him; he had assud Kathryn had called Ergency dical Services, not just summoned the family doctor. Adrian was displeased. However, it was too late to find another doctor, so they had no choice but to let Dr. Blake proceed.
Dr. Blake examined Sienna. Knowing she was pregnant, he was exceedingly careful, afraid any misstep might affect the baby.
"Doctor, is she alright?" Adrian asked nervously.
"There’s no major issue. It’s just that her Qi and blood flow is obstructed and stagnated due to emotional distress, causing her to faint temporarily. A little acupuncture should bring her around."
Dr. Blake took out a silver needle. It was long and thin, and he aid it at Sienna’s temple. Adrian’s heart pounded in his chest at the sight of such a long needle...
"Doctor, she’s pregnant. Are you sure acupuncture is safe for her?"
"It’s fine."
The doctor inserted the long, thin needle into Sienna’s body. Adrian, watching from the side, broke out in a cold sweat. He had never been so terrified, not even when a knife had been plunged directly into his own flesh.
"Why isn’t she waking up yet? Are you sure you know what you’re doing?" Adrian grew anxious, his tone becoming brusque.
Dr. Blake was elderly and possessed an unhurried temperant. Even faced with Adrian’s impatience, he maintained his calm deanor. "Patience, patience. Don’t worry..."
He gently twirled the fine needle. Sienna’s long eyelashes fluttered, her eyelids twitched, and then she slowly opened her eyes.
Adrian was overjoyed. "Sienna!"
Sienna’s eyes were lifeless, her gaze disturbingly vacant. "Sienna?" Adrian waved his hand in front of her eyes. Suddenly, her eyes regained focus. She sat up abruptly, startling Adrian.
"Where’s Mr. Blake?" Sienna asked.
Kathryn looked around but couldn’t find Mr. Blake in the room. "I’ll go find him!" she said, knowing Sienna would want to ask about the cetery and not daring to delay.
"I’ve already sent Walter and Aiden. They’ll handle it properly!" Adrian explained, aware of her worries and hoping to calm her.
"Call them. Ask if they’ve arrived yet."
"Alright."
Mr. Blake hadn’t dared to leave and was waiting in the yard. When Kathryn ca looking for him, he imdiately followed her into Sienna’s bedroom. Sienna fixed him with an icy stare, her aura strikingly similar to that of the man in black from the cetery. Mr. Blake shivered. I wish I could sprout wings and fly out of here!
The Johnson Family paid a considerable sum to hire to guard the cetery, and yet this happened... he thought. The Johnsons are a powerful family in Sileria City. If I offend them, I probably won’t be able to make a living in this city anymore.
"Miss..."
"When did you discover my father’s tomb had been dug up?"
"I don’t know..."
"Did you see any suspicious individuals?"
"I... I don’t know..."
"Our family hired you to guard the cetery! I ask you questions, and you know nothing! What good are you?" Sienna yelled at him, a fierce urge to strike the man welling up inside her.
Seeing Sienna’s furious expression, as if she wanted to tear him apart, Mr. Blake braced himself and stamred, "...No, no suspicious people. Everything was... as usual..."
"As usual? At a ti like this, you still dare to say it was ’as usual’? If everything was ’as usual,’ how could my father’s tomb have been dug up?!"
Sienna was yelling, her voice so loud it echoed in the room. Curly, who had never seen her mother in such a rage, was too scared to move a muscle.
"I’m sorry, I really don’t know... Everything was always fine before..." Mr. Blake continued to deflect responsibility. Sienna couldn’t bear to look at him any longer.
Realizing she wouldn’t get any useful information from him, Sienna decided she had to go investigate herself. This matter was too critical; she couldn’t entrust it to anyone else.
"Sienna, where are you going?" Adrian asked worriedly, seeing her get out of bed.
"I’m going to Phoenix Hill Cetery to see..."
"Sienna, how about I go? You just fainted; I’m worried about you. You should stay ho and rest. Trust , I’ll handle everything..."
Adrian grabbed her hand, trying to stop her. Sienna insisted, "No, I have to go... I have to go see my father..."
That nightmare last night... Sienna recalled. So it wasn’t for no reason I dreamt of Father. Sothing really happened to him. He ca to in my dream because his grave was disturbed.
"Sienna!"
"Adrian, I have to go!" Sienna persisted, her gaze unwavering. But Adrian was reluctant to yield. "We don’t even know what the situation is there. You’re pregnant. What if sothing happens to the baby if you go?"
"All you care about is your son! My father is the one in trouble now..." Sienna snapped at him.
"Sienna, I’m just worried about you."
"I’m sorry..." She realized her emotions had gotten the better of her and apologized to Adrian. He pulled her into his arms, comforting her. "...I’m just worried about you."
