"Weren’t you just saying that you were hungry earlier? Why aren’t you eating now?" Adrian Desmond never intended to pay any attention to Janice Crarson. He never wasted his energy on unimportant people.
"I lost my appetite," Sienna Johnson replied grumpily.
Adrian Desmond finally glanced at Janice. "Miss, get lost. You’re disgusting, and you’re affecting my wife’s appetite."
Janice’s face flushed red then deathly pale. The surrounding people stopped eating and stared at her, which only humiliated and enraged her further. "Adrian Desmond, do you know who I am?"
"Get lost!"
"My father is Abraham Crarson! How dare you speak to like this? Believe it or not, I’ll have my father deal with you until you can’t survive in Abyanabad anymore!"
Sienna Johnson intervened after taking a sip of water, "Oh, so you’re relying on your father, huh?" Then she turned to Adrian and said, "No worries. If we can’t stay in Abyanabad, we’ll just go back to Sileria City."
Although Janice could not quite decipher what "relying on one’s father" ant, considering their antagonistic relationship, she was convinced it wasn’t a complint. "You’re the one relying on your father!"
lanie Carpenter noticed the slight tightening of Adrian’s lips, a clear sign of his displeasure. She said to him, "I’m sorry, Sixth Brother. I’ll take Janice away right now. Please, for my sake, don’t stoop to her level."
Adrian remained silent.
"Sixth Brother, Father regrets his actions. When you have ti, could you pay him a visit?"
He still said nothing.
"Sixth Brother, Father really regrets hitting you last ti. In fact, he’s always treated you like his own son. Please don’t be angry with him. Co and visit him when you have ti... Father and Aunt had such a good relationship, and she passed away too soon. Father always says that you resemble her. He would be very happy if you could visit him regularly."
So, she’s playing the family card, Sienna thought, watching with a faint smile as lanie Carpenter suppressed her resentnt and tried to affect the gentle, virtuous deanor she once had.
Adrian Desmond frowned slightly and gave a noncommittal, "I understand."
A flicker of joy crossed lanie’s face. "I’ll go back and tell Father then."
Sienna looked at the inexplicably excited lanie, wondering what on earth she was going to tell Elliot Carpenter. Adrian hadn’t actually agreed to anything.
"Sixth Brother, I won’t disturb your al any longer. I’ll leave now." lanie pulled Janice away, but Janice was reluctant.
"Mhm."
"lanie, are you just going to let her off the hook like that?" Janice dug her heels in, insisting on championing lanie’s cause.
Sienna rested her chin on her hand, watching Janice. Just one word for her—idiot! Used as a pawn without even realizing it. If that isn’t stupidity, what is?
Sienna’s gaze shifted to lanie. She could no longer see the gentle, virtuous woman lanie once appeared to be.
"Sigh..." Sienna sighed lightly. Noticing her reaction, Adrian furrowed his eyebrows and looked at her.
"You shaless woman! Stealing soone else’s fiancé and still acting so arrogant? Are you bullying lanie because she has no one to back her up, thinking you can act so fearlessly?"
Sienna smiled at Janice. "...You’re so agitated, I thought I’d stolen your man!"
Janice’s face turned red. "What do you plan to do to my fiancé?"
Sienna gave her a aningful smile. "As you wish!"
"You shaless howrecker!"
Adrian gave a subtle glance, and a man in black stepped forward. He walked up to Janice and slapped her hard across the face several tis. SLAP! SLAP! The sounds were sharp, and Sienna winced, feeling a phantom sting for Janice.
PFFT! Janice spat out a mouthful of blood, a tooth mixed in with it. Clutching her face, which was already swelling grotesquely, she stood there stunned.
"Janice, it’s all my fault. Are you okay?" lanie asked.
After a mont of shock, Janice snapped back to her senses and began to shriek, "Who was that? Who dared hit ? Do you have any idea who I am? My father is Abraham Crarson!"
The onlookers, who had been enjoying the drama, quickly lowered their heads, not daring to look at Janice’s face any longer.
Unable to find the actual assailant, Janice turned on Sabrina Johnson. "Was it you? That man who hit , was he yours?"
Sienna, completely unabashed, pointed to Adrian. "He’s his bodyguard!"
Janice confronted Adrian directly. "Did you order your subordinate to hit ? Answer !"
"Let’s go," Adrian said to Sienna.
"Do you think we can just leave now?" Sienna countered.
Janice also had bodyguards, and two of them now stood behind Sienna, poised to strike.
Adrian scanned the two bodyguards behind Sienna and said to his own n, "Take care of these people."
"Yes, Sixth Master!"
lanie rushed over, clung to Adrian’s arm, and pleaded, "Sixth Brother, it’s all my fault. Please don’t be angry with Janice; she was only trying to stand up for ."
"Oh," Adrian replied coolly. "And I’m just standing up for my wife."
Adrian extended his hand to Sienna. "Let’s go, Mrs. Desmond. The show is over."
Sienna placed her hand in Adrian’s and let him help her up.
"Get her! Hit her hard! Knock her teeth out too!" Janice shrieked, incandescent with humiliation and rage.
Adrian pulled Sienna into his embrace, shielding her. The mont Sienna was within his protective circle, Adrian’s bodyguards moved. The elegant Western restaurant instantly transford into a brawl scene.
"Stop fighting! All of you, stop fighting..." lanie cried out perfunctorily, standing safely on the periphery, ensuring the fight wouldn’t reach her.
They stood on the sidelines, watching the spectacle: several n locked in a chaotic tussle, a disheveled woman (Janice), and another woman (lanie) making a show of superficial concern.
"Won’t this attract the police?" Sienna murmured.
"So what if it does?" Adrian replied.
Sienna glanced at lanie. "Your little cousin has gotten smarter," she whispered to Adrian. "She’s learned how to turn others’ strength to her advantage... You’d better be careful, Adrian. A desperate woman can be terrifying."
"In this world, the most terrifying woman is none other than Mrs. Desmond."
"But I love you; I could never be cruel to you. lanie is different... No, wait, her target is . I’m in far more danger than you are."
"As long as I’m here, who can hurt you?"
"Let’s go." Adrian gently turned Sienna’s head forward as she kept trying to look back. "I’ve discovered Mrs. Desmond is developing quite a taste for watching spectacles."
"It was just too good a show to miss! lanie, though... I have to admit, she impressed . Actually learning to use soone else as her weapon."
"Ho, or should we find another place to eat?"
"Not ho. Let’s go to the Hotel. I still have to sell my bird’s nest tomorrow."
Adrian left with Sienna, leaving the chaotic Western restaurant behind. lanie watched Sienna’s retreating figure, her eyes filled with venomous resentnt, blaming Sienna for all her misfortunes.
If it weren’t for this woman, I would be the one standing next to Adrian today! Since she dared to steal my Adrian, then she can’t bla for being ruthless!
