"No way." Adrian Desmond flatly refused without giving it a second thought.
"Sixth Master, you don’t think I’ll run away, do you?"
Adrian remained silent.
Sienna Johnson scoffed. "Sixth Master, do you know how many people you’ve arranged around ? Besides sleeping and bathing, I’m monitored 24 hours a day."
He still said nothing.
"Adrian... am I your prisoner?"
Adrian Desmond was trying hard to please Sienna Johnson now. Seeing her misunderstand his intentions, he quickly explained, "No, it’s not like that. There are just so many n on the island, I’m worried you’ll get too close to one of them..."
He spoke cryptically, but Sienna still understood his aning. "Adrian, Xavier and I are innocent."
Innocent?
He had seen them kissing with his own eyes. If he hadn’t appeared in ti, how far would they have gone? Adrian still felt the flas of anger when he thought about this.
"Co back tomorrow morning." Adrian relented slightly.
Sienna patiently said, "I’ll be back before your wedding. I still have to attend the wedding of the Sixth Master and Mrs. Desmond."
Her last sentence was undeniably sarcastic. Hearing Sienna speak these words, Adrian felt extrely uncomfortable. He knew how much Sienna opposed his marriage to lanie Carpenter, yet now she still had to attend their wedding.
"I know you don’t want to marry lanie, so don’t bother attending the wedding. You’re pregnant, and the crowd will be chaotic. I’m afraid soone might accidentally bump into you."
At the wedding, Sienna’s sorrowful or indifferent gaze watching him marry lanie – just thinking about it made him uncomfortable.
"Sixth Master, are you afraid that I’ll make a scene at the wedding? Don’t worry, Sixth Master, I won’t do sothing so indecent. I really only want to wish the Sixth Master and his new bride well, and hope you have a hundred years of happiness together and many noble children."
"Mai, don’t go!" After a pause, he said softly, "Please don’t go..."
"Fine." Sienna agreed.
She was just saying that; she definitely wouldn’t have ti to attend any wedding that day.
"Mai, will you marry right after lanie and I have our wedding?"
"We’ll see when the ti cos."
Who would marry an already married man? Was she out of her mind?
"Don’t be angry with anymore. If I don’t marry lanie, who knows what foolish thing she’ll do... She only has left now..."
"I’m not angry. It’s perfectly normal for the Sixth Master and Mrs. Desmond to marry since you have a marriage contract. Besides, Mrs. Desmond is virtuous, gentle, and generous; you two are truly well-matched. I sincerely bless the Sixth Master and Mrs. Desmond."
Sienna was magnanimous and understanding, which was what Adrian had always hoped for. However, he couldn’t explain the growing unease in his heart. He felt increasingly uneasy, as if sothing was slowly slipping out of his control.
"I’m glad you think this way... If there’s anything you want, tell , and I’ll buy it for you."
Sienna chuckled lightly, and a few pieces of the cucumber mask on her face fell off. Adrian really treated her like a mistress, always using money to appease her.
"Sixth Master, I’ve always been curious about sothing and wanted to ask you..."
"What is it?"
"I heard you have a treasure and even a treasure map?"
Adrian answered surprisingly readily, "It’s not really a treasure. I just don’t trust banks, so it’s a place to keep my money. There’s no treasure map either; my money is hidden on a small island about 30 nautical miles behind Unnad Island. If you’re interested, I can take you there. It’s just so gold and silver, nothing interesting."
Sienna had the call on speakerphone, so Kiki also heard the conversation. Sienna saw Kiki’s disappointed expression and said, "No need, Sixth Master. You’re an important person with many things to attend to, so I won’t bother you. Goodbye."
With that, she imdiately hung up. If she waited for Adrian’s endless chatter, who knew how long it would go on?
Sienna returned the phone to Resa and asked her to leave. Once only she and Kiki remained in the room, Sienna said, "You see? There’s no treasure, just a place where Adrian keeps his money. You’ve watched too much TV. A treasure map?!" Sienna shook her head.
With a disappointed expression, Kiki said, "I thought he had a big treasure."
"What would you do if he had a big treasure?"
"Go treasure hunting."
Sienna had a sudden idea. "Why don’t we go treasure hunting?"
Kiki’s eyes lit up, and she nodded vigorously. "Yes! Oh, Mai, you have no idea! My childhood dream was to find a huge treasure, one with countless riches. Then I could do nothing all day and still have tons of money to spend."
"It’s more interesting to earn money yourself."
Although Sienna wasn’t favored in the Johnson Family, they had never been harsh with her materially. She wasn’t too attached to money; she felt that having enough was good.
「The next day」
After a good night’s sleep and dinner, the two of them set off for their treasure hunt.
When Resa saw them, with their picnic basket filled with delicious food, her expression darkened, and her mouth twitched. They were going treasure hunting, yet they hadn’t even brought any tools!
Unable to bear it any longer, Resa offered a reminder, "Madam, shouldn’t you bring so tools for your treasure hunt?"
Kiki was puzzled and asked humbly, "What tools?"
"At least bring a map..."
The two pondered for a mont, and Kiki turned to Sienna, asking, "Mai, what map should we bring?"
Sienna asked Resa for her phone, found Adrian’s number, and dialed it. The call rang for a long ti before anyone answered. Just as Sienna was about to hang up, the call connected.
"Hello, the Sixth Master went to bed late last night and hasn’t woken up yet. What can I do for you?"
It was lanie Carpenter who answered. Her words were laden with implications. He’d gone to bed late last night? Why? Was it because he and lanie had been... intimate for too long?
"Hello? Are you there?"
"I’m Mai! It’s nothing, I just want to go treasure hunting and ask about the location of the treasure."
Sienna was about to say goodbye and hang up when lanie unexpectedly told her the location and even the passwords. There were three password-protected doors in total, and lanie knew all the passwords.
Adrian wouldn’t even trust her that much, would he?
Sienna felt a maelstrom of emotions, as if a bottle of mixed flavors had overturned within her. She couldn’t even feign disdain. She hung up the phone, threw it at Resa, and turned to leave.
"Mai, where are you going? Wait for !" Kiki chased after her, only to see Sienna’s reddened eyes.
"What’s wrong?"
"Last night, Adrian was in lanie’s room."
Kiki’s eyes flickered. She looked at Sienna and hesitated for a long mont before saying softly, "Mai, they’ll be husband and wife in a few days..."
