The members of the Shanna Orchestra gaped at the exchange between Yao Tang and Xiao Jing.
Like Wu Hai, they had all been led to believe thatXiao Jingwas on their side, and they felt just as gutted when he revealed his true stance.
On the other hand, those from the Glory Orchestrawere awash with relief.
After their initial encounter with Xiao Jing, they thought thatFang Huihad lied when he told them thatYao Tangwas very familiar with the prodigy.
They were beyond ecstatic to find that Fang Huitold the truth.

Not only was Yao Tangfamiliar withXiao Jing, but it was very apparent that they had a very good relationship as well.
Otherwise, they wouldn’t be bantering like this.
Now, the people from the Glory Orchestrawere looking forward to what was about to unfold.
Yao Tang had assured them that she would find suitable replacements to fill in the positions that they lacked.
Not once had they guessed that she would end up recruiting some of the most capable talents in the industry.
Though feeling wronged and envious, Wu Haithickened his skin and spoke up.
“Senior Xiao Jing, are you acquainted withYao Tang?”
“That’s right,” the young man answered almost immediately, surprising everyone. “Yao Tang and I have been good friends for many years. I suppose you could say that we have a special relationship.”
Wu Hai and his teammates grimaced at that.
But Xiao Jingignored them and turned toYao Tang, eager to plete his mission.
“Captain Yao, I’ve brought the people you need with me. Let’s go and practice right away!”
Yao Tang greeted the three others that had e with him.
They wore similar curious expressions as they peered and exchanged pleasantries with her.
Wu Hai could practically feel bile rising in his throat. If things had gone his way, theGlory Orchestrawould have either conceded or lost the petition.
If only Xiao Jinghadn’t appeared and ruined everything.
Wu Hai and his cohorts had tried so many tricks and had even resorted to backhanded schemes to plot their rivals’ downfall. He couldn’t help but resent the idol he once looked up to.
His problems didn’t end here, though.
He wouldn’t have worried too much, even if the Glory Orchestrahad managed to find substitutes at the last minute. He had every confidence in his team and their skills.
The thing was, Xiao Jinghimself had found these replacements!
Everyone knew that he hailed from a renowned orchestra himself, so it stood to reason that he was well-connected with people of the same caliber.
Wu Hai gritted his teeth as he watched theGlory Orchestraleave. TheShanna Orchestra’s victory was no longer guaranteed.
His somber musing was interrupted by the ringing of his phone. He picked up the call and listened, his expression changing drastically by the second.
The next thing they knew, Wu Haiwas rushing home.
Even if he failed tomorrow’s assessment, he still had other chances to participate in the future. But if something happened to his family…
He would be doomed for good!
Xiao Jing had only brought three people with him, soFang Huihad already guessed that he would be substituting as well. What he didn’t expect was thatXiao Jingwould take over the position of the lead violinist.
After all, he was the piano concertmaster of the Yunmei Orchestra.
The other members had the same misgivings. Their quiet discussions quickly died down when Xiao Jingpicked up a violin and played a piece.
Their doubts dissipated in an instant.
Fang Hui was impressed. At first, he thought thatXiao Jingand his friends would have trouble familiarizing themselves with the piece.
To his amazement, Xiao Jingperformed as though he had been playing the position all his life.
He had only glanced at the sheet music once, too.
A stunned silence followed Xiao Jing’s playing as it dawned on everyone that he was more than patible with theGlory Orchestra.
It was as if he had been a member since the beginning!
They knew then that they already had the petition in the bag.
“You’re absolutely amazing, Senior Xiao Jing! As expected from a member of theYunmei Orchestra. Your talent and understanding of music are just mind-blowing.”
“I agree. I was originally worried that you won’t get used to playing with us, but I think we would be able to make excellent music together.”
Xiao Jing basked in their praises. He tapped his nose and glanced inYao Tang’s direction.
She was hunched over the music score. Considering the new additions to their team, she wanted to revise the music in accordance with everyone’s personality.
This was the piece that she wanted them to play tomorrow.
