“That’s her?”
The thin man behind Elder Xu narrowed his eyes at the young woman who had just entered the room. He looked her up and down, observing her every move.
“Yao Tang, you’re here!”
Elder Xu smiled widely, beckoning her over.
However, just as he was about to stand up, President Tan quickly said, “Elder Xu, you don’t have to stand. Please, take a seat. It’s an honor to see you again.”

The old man slowly nodded, taking his seat. Even then, his eyes were still on Yao Tang.
The thin man snorted coldly. “I may not have encountered a thousand geniuses in my lifetime, but I sure have met a couple hundred,” he snapped. “How can this little girl be as good as you say? You’re not screwing with us, are you?”
“She looks quite elegant,” the other man spoke. He didn’t appear to be as blunt as the thin elder.
The two older men were the elders of the Cabinet. After hearing that Elder Xu had finally found a genius, they decided to take a look for themselves.
Elder Wang, the thin man, immediately rolled his eyes. “There are so many elegant people in the world. If that’s the only thing we’re looking for, we can find thousands of them all around,” he snapped. “Don’t forget that we’re here to find a genius, not a beauty.”
“Of course, I didn’t forget, but Elder Xu has been here for decades. We shouldn’t be doubting his thoughts on the girl.”
Elder Li didn’t look the slightest bit annoyed as he glanced over at the newers.
Elder Xu saw the way the two elders were fighting as a smile entered his features. He was quite confident with his pick.
As long as Yao Tang would showcase her talents, she would surely not disappoint him. After all, he had already seen the way she had played previously.
“Fine, but I’m telling you, if you’re mistaken, I wouldn’t let you off!”
Elder Wang snapped.
Elder Xu simply smiled in response.
Geniuses, especially peerless geniuses, naturally had the right to make the elders argue.
President Tan’s heart tightened as he listened to the elders’ arguments.
He had also heard that these were all well-known elders of the Inner Pavillion. Elder Wang was infamously known for being strict. Ordinary geniuses were nothing in his eyes.
In the past few years, the geniuses recruited by the Cabinet were pretty ordinary.
Elder Wang believed that they weren’t worth his attention.
Elder Xu had actually been searching for a potential talent in secret for years. President tan only knew two students who he had declared as geniuses—one was Yao Tang, and the other had disappeared a long time ago.
It was interesting.
However, it seemed that his recognition of Yao Tang did not ultimately qualify her as a member just yet. All three elders had to agree.
It was normal for him to argue.
However, President Tan wasn’t really concerned about that. He was more concerned about Yao Tang’s mental health. He was afraid that their arguing would only scare her away.
He looked to the side to see her leaning against the back of her seat. Her eyes were closed.
It was as if she was about to fall asleep.
President Tan stifled a laugh. He had been worried about her, but she seemed to be at ease.
After all, he knew what he was capable of.
There was no need for him to worry.
Besides, even if these men didn’t bother to put Yao Tang’s mental health at ease, then he was still there for her. He’d do the best he can to protect her.
“It’s useless to argue now! Just test her talent if you must!”
Elder Xu snapped.
Elder Wang stood up, waved his sleeve, and walked out the door.
Elder Li smiled and followed.
“Let’s go.” Elder Xu glanced over at Yao Tang.
The young woman seemed to have woken up. Without another word, she followed Elder Xu out of the conference room.
President Tan and Tan Jianfollowed after them.
After passing through the long corridor, he couldn’t help but notice unfamiliar faces. All of them were staring at them as if wondering who they were. President Tan only looked straight ahead.
It took them about two minutes when they finally entered another room. There, in the middle was a strange instrument.
The instrument was of an unusual shape, and it was placed on a high rack. The redwood glinted under the artificial light, almost as if taunting anyone who would dare enter the room.
