Sumr Monroe resolutely said, "I’m not trying to make things difficult. I know a bit about programming, maybe I can help. Trust !"
Damian Knight gave Sumr a deep look. Her eyes were bright and clear as if washed by water, yet cold.
He knew he couldn’t stop her, so he nodded, "Alright, co up with ."
The two exchanged a glance and ran against the crowd towards the second floor.
The elevator was no longer usable. Carefully avoiding the fire ignited by spilled gasoline, they made their way to the second floor.
But despite their caution, by the ti they reached the second floor, both had sustained injuries to various degrees on their feet.
Damian didn’t pay attention to his own injuries and instantly noticed Sumr’s burned ankle.
He suddenly halted and said, "Your foot..."
"Don’t worry about it, opening the door is more urgent!" Sumr disregarded her injuries, raising her foot to run towards the security room.
Damian had no choice but to quickly follow.
Soon, they arrived at the entrance of the security room.
However, unfortunately, the door to the security room was locked with a large padlock.
"Step back," Damian said, taking two steps back himself, then swiftly ran forward, kicking the door of the security room.
The door shook twice but still stood firm.
By this ti, the building was already filled with spreading smoke, making breathing difficult.
"Cough, cough..." Sumr covered her mouth and coughed, suddenly rembering a firebox at the stairway’s turn.
Her eyes lit up, "There’s an axe there! I’ll get it!"
She sped to the firebox, and sure enough, there was an axe inside.
She kicked open the glass of the firebox, retrieving the axe inside.
However, as she grabbed the axe, her hand accidentally got cut by the glass, and blood imdiately started flowing.
"Damn..." Sumr cursed quietly, but didn’t linger, quickly wiping the blood on her hand on her clothes before rushing back.
"The axe... I’ve got it..." Sumr gasped for air, smoke filling her lungs, causing another violent cough.
anwhile, the smoke was getting denser...
Besides the thickening smoke, Sumr could also feel the surrounding heat intensifying.
At this rate, it wouldn’t be long before they inhaled too much smoke and eventually suffocated to death...
Damian anxiously took the axe and asked, "Are you sure you can handle it? Maybe you should go down and wait for ."
Sumr shook her head firmly, "No need to close the door, just hurry and open it."
Damian gritted his teeth, stopped looking at her, and raised the axe to smash the lock.
Once, twice...
On the fifth strike, the lock finally broke open.
The two imdiately pushed the door open and rushed into the security room.
Inside the security room, there were dozens of computers. Following the labels on the computers, they quickly found the one controlling the main door.
Damian hunched down and pulled open the keyboard, his hands flying over the keys. Sumr could only see the blur of his hands on the keyboard, showing how fast he was.
Soon, Damian identified the issue.
He pointed to a file in the computer and said, "This is it. Soone hacked into this computer and inserted this program, locking the door."
"Can it be deleted?"
Damian shook his head, "I tried, it’s no use. I’m not an expert in this field, I’ll call Isaac Ross, and ask him what to do."
"Okay." Sumr nodded, waiting for Damian to make the call.
However, Damian pulled out the computer only to realize that the building’s signal was jamd, making it impossible to make any calls!
