Rachel Ross thought Sumr Monroe hadn’t heard of this big shot, and rolled her eyes disdainfully, saying, "As expected from a half-baked amateur who hasn’t even heard of Mr. Thorne! Let put it this way, even the founder of this annual gathering of The Elite Society is Mr. Thorne. How can you participate in this banquet when you don’t even know him?"
In Rachel’s view, Sumr, who grew up in the countryside, was a worthless bumpkin who had no business attending the elite gathering of the top-tier The Elite Society!
Rachel said sharply, "If you have any self-awareness, you should leave The Elite Society yourself early, lest you get beaten by until not a shred of dignity is left, so much so your mother won’t recognize you!"
Sumr’s expression had always been nonchalant, and she even considered giving Rachel a draw, as Rachel was Isaac Ross’s cousin, so she could save her so face.
But now that Rachel ntioned "your mother," Sumr’s eyes turned cold instantly.
Her gaze, as if hiding ancient ice, stared coldly at Rachel, "You asked just now on what grounds? Well, on the grounds that I can make you concede defeat in two minutes."
"Ha?" Rachel seed to hear the biggest joke of all ti.
She rubbed her eyes and wiped away her tears of laughter, speaking to Sumr as if addressing a clueless child, "Dear, do you think you can just keep standing till the end because you’ve been on a winning streak? Truth is, you’ve been winning only because your opponents were all third-rate players and amateurs, never facing a true rider. Not even ntioning myself, you couldn’t even beat those few friends of mine!"
"Oh really? And what if I beat you?" Sumr’s eyes were as cold as a distant moon, yet her expression remained smiling.
Rachel sneered, saying, "If you beat , I’ll kneel and admit defeat in front of everyone! But if you lose, you must kneel and apologize for your rudeness and ignorance!"
Sumr smiled brightly, "Then it’s a deal?"
Rachel gritted her teeth, "A deal!"
Sumr scratched her ears, "See you at the chessboard then."
After finishing, she didn’t waste more words on Rachel and turned to find Damian Knight.
Rachel was fuming with anger due to Sumr’s attitude.
She secretly vowed to make sure Sumr would kneel and accept defeat today!
Rachel clenched her fists and also turned to leave, heading to the lounge.
She needed to carefully consider which strategy would leave Sumr with nothing but embarrassnt!
On the other side, Sumr found Damian Knight, who was talking to soone.
Damian saw her, and his cold, handso face showed a slight, gentle smile, congratulating her, "Congratulations, I heard you haven’t lost a single match."
Sumr modestly said, "It was just luck; my opponents weren’t strong. But you, you’ve consistently drawn strong opponents and maintained a winning streak. I didn’t realize you were so good at chess."
"Everyone needs to have their own hobbies." Damian said, gesturing toward a man with slightly mixed features beside him, and introduced for Sumr, "This is Mr. Irving, Mr. Thorne’s prized student. Mr. Thorne said that Mr. Irving’s current chess skills have surpassed his. If you win your next match, you’ll have the chance to play against him."
Sumr had heard about Mr. Irving, from Old Man Thorne.
Old Man Thorne had ntioned before that he had an exceptionally gifted apprentice, who was this Mr. Irving.
It seed she would have the opportunity to play against the outstanding apprentice of Old Man Thorne.
She was quite interested to see just how high this "exceptional talent" that Old Man Thorne had spoken of truly was.
