Evan Hughes couldn’t resist Coralie Hughes’s persuasion, so he had to put down the newspaper and stand up.

Clarissa Stanton snorted coldly through her nose at a few guards and followed Mrs. Chambers inside.
The guards whispered among themselves, "Is Mrs. Chambers getting old, her eyes failing? She went inside dressed like that in all black, how does that look? Even our suits are white."
"Exactly! Soon we’ll get scolded together!"
"Forget it, forget it, Mrs. Chambers is the one who brought her in, it’s not directly related to us."
