Thinking of this, Henry Stanton didn’t say anything further, just reminded with a phrase "take care of yourself," and then started chatting with Old Madam Stanton about Clarissa Stanton.
Sumr Monroe said nothing, silently took the basket of vegetables at the door, and headed out.
After walking a few steps, she suddenly rembered to bring so tools and turned back.
However, when she reached the doorway, she overheard Old Madam Stanton talking with Henry Stanton.
She heard Henry asking in confusion, "Mom, you didn’t use to treat Clarissa like this, what’s going on?"
Upon hearing this, Sumr Monroe couldn’t help but stop in her tracks, silently standing where they couldn’t see her.

You foolishly agreed behind my back! Even though the Monroe Family is yours now, I still can’t swallow this anger! If that short-lived one hadn’t died, I would still be unable to hold my head high in front of others!"
"Mom, stop talking about this! It’s all in the past, why bring it up? Besides, Sumr is different from her mom; she’s quite obedient and sensible."
"How is she obedient and sensible? Didn’t you notice her clenched fists earlier? This girl may appear docile, but inside, she must hate to the core now! This girl is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, you need to be careful of her!"
Henry replied, "Mom, you’re overthinking. She might be a bit upset with the way you spoke about her just now."
"I hope that’s the case! Otherwise, you’ve brought the head wolf ho!"
Sumr stood at the doorway, listening to their conversation, secretly shocked in her heart.
Unexpectedly, this seemingly ignorant old lady was so observant, she nearly saw through her.
It seems she needs to be doubly careful!
Sumr tightly gripped the vegetable basket in her hand, and instead of going inside to get tools, she headed directly to the acre of land Old Madam Stanton ntioned.
The vegetable plot was not big, actually less than an acre, but it contained a wide variety of vegetables.
Sumr thought for a mont and decided to make so dumplings.
She picked several types of vegetables and carried the basket back.
On her way back, Sumr spotted the little boy nad Dottie again.
She stopped and called the little boy over.
Dottie hesitated, glanced at her with curiosity, but didn’t move towards her.
Sumr had no choice but to go over with the basket, crouched in front of Dottie, and asked, "Your na is Dottie, right?"
Dottie nodded and timidly asked, "What’s your na?"
"My na is... Sadie. You can call Sadie Sister."
Dottie shook his head, "I only have one sister, you’re not my sister."
Sumr raised an eyebrow and smiled, "You little rascal, you must have a good relationship with your sister. What’s her na? How old is she? Is she still in school?"
Dottie shook his head again, "She is already dead."
Sumr was stunned and asked, "How co...?"
Dottie lowered his head and said, "Last year, my sister had a high fever, and the family had no money for treatnt, so she could only go into the mountains to dig for herbs. By the second day, my sister was gone. Dad said sister just went to a good place where she wouldn’t suffer. I also want to go to a good place, but I’m scared..."
Hearing this, Sumr felt extrely sad and shocked.
If it wasn’t for the skimming by Henry Stanton and Old Madam Stanton, this line of work is quite profitable, not so much that they couldn’t pay for a child’s treatnt.
Let alone that even such a young child would have the thought of "going to a good place."
