Sitting at the desk "diligently reading," Sumr Monroe looked up in confusion and her gaze t Henry Stanton’s eyes.
There was a hint of panic in those eyes, although Henry quickly concealed it, Sumr accurately caught it.
She asked calmly, "Dad, why are you back?"
Seeing Sumr just sitting at the desk reading seriously, Henry felt relieved.
He coughed lightly into his hand and said, "I suddenly rembered I had so unfinished business. It’s getting late today, you should go rest. Co back another day to read."
Sumr didn’t want to show any sign of her discovery, anyhow, she had already realized there was sothing in the locked cabinet causing Henry’s anxiety, which was a gain for her.
"Alright." She closed the book in her hand, a copy of "World Economics."
Henry saw the book she was reading and shook his head, saying, "This book is too profound for you, and girls don’t need to learn such things. Soday, I’ll find sothing more suitable for you."
In Henry’s view, girls shouldn’t think about business, just be a pretty girl and marry a wealthy husband. Business is a man’s job, won only create trouble.
But in fact, the company had almost been emptied by Stella Monroe, and Henry hadn’t noticed yet.
Sumr didn’t even bother to curse Henry in her heart and walked towards the door without any turmoil inside.
"By the way, Sadie." Henry suddenly called her.
Sumr turned her head, only to hear Henry sharply ask, "Where did you learn your coffee art?"
Sumr thought Henry only cared about results and wouldn’t ask about such things, but it seems he started suspecting sothing.
She replied with an unchanged expression, "In ridian, I worked at a coffee shop. The manager at the ti was a very skilled barista who had returned from overseas. I learned from him."
"I see... Well, when you beco successful, you must go thank him properly."
"Yes, Dad, I think so too." Sumr’s face showed pure-hearted gratitude, dispelling a hint of suspicion in Henry’s mind.
She turned around and walked to her room.
Along the way, she noticed a thin layer of sweat on her palm.
There has been no substantive progress yet, and she must not let Henry notice anything, or it might alert him prematurely.
But obviously, her presence in the study today had made Henry wary, which is why he returned.
She had been too hasty.
Sumr returned to her room and closed the door, leaning against the door panel and taking a deep breath with her eyes closed.
She quietly told herself: Don’t rush, the truth will co out, and she must have enough patience.
After a full half-minute, Sumr opened her eyes.
Then she realized sothing...
Sumr discovered that soone had entered her room!
Since she was very cautious, before leaving, she had sprinkled a layer of unobtrusive silver powder on the floor, which now clearly showed a trail of footprints.
The footprints were not big, indicating that the intruder was surely a woman.
The first thing Sumr did was check her computer, as she had long since deleted all browsing traces, so the intruder shouldn’t find anything. Besides, the computer hadn’t been touched since the mouse was in its original place.
She checked other places and finally found that the card belonging to Damian Knight in her coat was missing.
"Clarissa Stanton..."
It must have been her who took it.
That girl, truly relentless.
But such a card was of little importance to Sumr, so she decided to feign ignorance.
People who take what doesn’t belong to them often suffer from the repercussion of their deeds.
The next day ca, and Sumr was woken up early by the servants. As she went downstairs, she found Henry and his family already having breakfast.
However, Clarissa Stanton uncharacteristically stood up as soon as she saw Sumr, claid she had finished her al, and left the room, avoiding Sumr’s gaze.
