Ronan Kingston furrowed his brow, instinctively wanting to say sothing in defense of Sumr Monroe, but when he glanced to the side, he saw Sumr shaking her head at him in warning.
He understood Sumr’s look, signaling him not to worry.
He had no choice but to lower his head and remain silent.
He really didn’t understand why Mio Osborne, with a genius student like Sumr at hand, wouldn’t value her, yet treated the utterly ordinary Willow Grant so well. What a clear-cut case of blind favoritism!
But it wasn’t just Ronan; other students couldn’t help but murmur among themselves.
"Why do I feel like Professor Osborne has sothing against Sumr Monroe?"
"I heard he’s particularly against backdoor admissions, and rumor has it that Sumr got in through one."
"So what if she got in through a backdoor? Given her abilities, she far exceeds soone like , who was personally invited by him."
Mio Osborne didn’t clearly hear what the students were discussing below; he only heard a general commotion.
Mio Osborne rapped the desk in displeasure, "Quiet!"
The class fell silent.
"Alright," Mio Osborne began, "let’s start the lesson. Before we begin, let’s do roll call. Respond when your na is called."
It wasn’t long before Sumr Monroe’s na was called; Mio Osborne felt a complex mix of emotions, but there was an inexplicable frustration simring inside him. He decided to skip Sumr’s na.
After all, this student wouldn’t be his after the next monthly test.
Mio Osborne skipped over Sumr and called Rachel Ross’s na.
But when he called out, no one answered.
Mio Osborne looked up at Rachel’s seat and saw it was empty; she wasn’t there.
He frowned and asked, "Where’s Rachel Ross?"
Rachel’s desk mate shook her head and replied, "I don’t know, she hasn’t shown up since the evening study session."
Mio Osborne’s expression darkened; this was Rachel’s second unexplained absence.
He initially thought among the four students who got into his class through backdoor ans, only Rachel seed capable of being coached and staying, but now it appeared he was wrong.
Those who ca in through backdoor channels were all useless.
After roll call, Mio Osborne said, "Let’s begin the class; open your calculus textbooks to page 14. We’ll discuss a new problem type today..."
However, just as Mio Osborne finished speaking, there was a knock on the door.
Mio Osborne thought it was Rachel returning, but when he turned to look, it was a student from the student council.
"What’s the matter?" Mio Osborne asked with a frown.
Sumr Monroe also raised her eyes to look and saw that it was Leo Cheney, the student council president who had warned her about Rachel last night.
Leo was holding a roster and said, "Professor Osborne, I’m here to call students for rehearsal. There are three students from your class participating in the freshman party who need to co with to the school auditorium for practice now."
Mio Osborne’s expression showed displeasure, but he still said, "Take them. Have them return as soon as they’re done, I’m starting a new lesson here."
"Okay." Leo picked up the attendance list and said, "Then... Willow Grant, Holly Holloway, and Sumr Monroe, co with ."
Hearing Sumr Monroe’s na, Willow Grant’s back stiffened.
Sumr was also participating in the freshman party?
It seed like Sumr had set her sights on her, whatever she did, Sumr had to follow suit, truly a shadow that wouldn’t let go!
Did she just want to overshadow her that badly?
Willow couldn’t help but let out a cold snort.
When it ca to math, she might not currently match up to Sumr, but in the talent show, she couldn’t believe she’d lose to a country bumpkin!
With that thought, Willow stood up with her head held high and walked to the classroom door.
As Sumr walked out from behind, she looked up to see Willow glaring at her with a less than friendly face.
