「Finally, the door reopened.」
All the job seekers stood up.
It was the sa old lady with the pearl necklace. Her face solemn, she said, "Yan Xixi, you have been accepted."
Yan Xixi was overjoyed, while the others left dejectedly.
The old lady reached out and shook her hand. "Congratulations. I am Huang Ying, the HR Director of this company."
"Thank you, Director Huang."
"When can you complete your onboarding paperwork?"
"Tomorrow! No, this afternoon would work. I’m free, any ti."
"It’s not that urgent. Prepare well, and complete your onboarding paperwork in three days."
The September sunshine was so glorious that Yan Xixi almost ran out of the company, bouncing as if she were a little girl again. She stopped in the plaza outside the building, looking up, almost greedily, at the grand office building. Am I going to be one of them from now on? Can I slowly build my own career? Could I have social security and health insurance, and then, slowly grow old, with a pension in my old age? How wonderful!
A fragrant breeze touched her lips. She took a deep breath, spread her arms wide, and then clenched her fists. If good fortune has really co, I must seize this opportunity!
「It was Yan Xixi’s first day of work.」She got up early, changed into a blue suit, and after a look in the mirror, thought it was perfect. The onboarding paperwork went smoothly.
Huang Ying, her expression still stern, said, "Yan Xixi, starting today, you and all the other new colleagues will participate in a month of intensive training. Only after completing the training can you officially start your job."
She nodded respectfully. "Thank you, Director Huang."
"I must remind you, the company has hired many new employees this ti. You were the very last one hired in the final batch, so you must keep up."
"Rest assured, Director Huang, I won’t let you down."
The old lady looked at her skeptically. "Young lady, you must rember that while beauty can indeed be an advantage at work, it’s also a double-edged sword. Our company has many male colleagues—the kind people call ’tall, rich, and handso,’ the type unmarried won often admire. You need to conduct yourself appropriately."
Yan Xixi gave a mischievous smile and winked. "I’m a staunch bachelorette."
The old lady was taken aback. "Why?"

For so reason, a desolate look flickered in the old lady’s eyes. She didn’t ask any more questions and waved her hand, dismissing Yan Xixi.
「It was a month of hellish training.」They woke up at 6:00 AM and returned to the hotel at 10:00 PM, with additional team-building exercises in between. There was no ti for entertainnt or gossip; even their mobile phones were confiscated for the duration. The male recruits complained bitterly, let alone the female ones. Two trainees couldn’t endure it and quit halfway through.
Yet Yan Xixi didn’t find it arduous at all. She was surprisingly energetic, brimming with what seed like inexhaustible vitality. At the end of the training, she unquestionably secured the top rank in the company’s internal assessnt. That afternoon, the supervisor reminded everyone to arrive early the next day, as the company’s General Manager of Sales would be coming to inspect the new recruits.
When Yan Xixi returned to her apartnt after such a long absence, she found the windowsills coated in dust. Without pausing to rest, she imdiately began cleaning, tidying everything up inside and out until it was spotless. She then took a wonderfully refreshing hot shower. Looking in the bathroom mirror, she noticed her previously fair, flawless skin had tanned considerably from the scorching sun during the outdoor training activities. Her skin had even developed a few faint sunspots.
She chuckled, not minding in the least, and once in bed, fell soundly asleep.
