She laughed heartily three tis. "HAHAHA! Leukemia? Isn’t that a staple of Korean dramas? It seems like a disease only the rich and handso get. Have you eaten too much kimchi? Or watched too many Korean dramas? Do you think developing leukemia will make you the male lead in so drama? Dude, wake up. If you want to star in an idol drama, I suggest you get plastic surgery, height enhancent, and your jaw slimd. Maybe then you can play an old eunuch. Alright, goodnight. I hope your ’idol illness’ gets better soon. And rember, don’t bother again. I’m thoroughly sick of your gas. Turning off my phone. Going to sleep."
"Shall we sleep together?"
She promptly turned off her phone, never responding to him again.
"I hope your ’Kimchi disease’ gets better soon," Wan Donglin thought with a bitter smile. This con artist. Her harshness was truly relentless.
On Friday after work, as soon as Yan Xixi reached the entrance of her residential complex, she heard a car honking. Turning her head, she saw Huang Xiaojue leaning out of the car window, his face wreathed in smiles. "Xixi, hop in!"
Cars were already lining up and honking behind him, so Yan Xixi, afraid of blocking traffic, quickly got into the car and grumbled softly, "Xiaojue, what are you doing here all of a sudden?"
He chuckled. "You don’t let bother you at work, but we still need to find ti for a date, right?"
"Aren’t you busy?"
His expression turned serious. "No matter how busy I am, I have to make ti for romance. We need to fill the world with love."
Yan Xixi giggled.
He chuckled too. "The year-end is here, and I over-fulfilled my sales target ages ago, so I’m not that busy anymore. I need to relax a bit. Thinking back, I’ve hardly taken any weekends off this whole year, let alone annual leave—not even a single day. Since it’s not so busy now, I need to get so proper rest. By the way, Xixi, you’ve been working for a while now. Encountered any problems?"
She thought about the issue with President Liang but decided against ntioning it. She didn’t want to rely on Huang Xiaojue for help. If Xiaojue found out, he definitely wouldn’t let her take on this client. She just shook her head and said everything was fine.
Dinner, a movie, then coffee... The standard dating itinerary was complete. Yan Xixi sat in the coffee shop, observing the upscale decor, plush chairs, and delicate cups. Truth be told, she didn’t even like coffee that much.
"Xixi..."
Her mind seed to be elsewhere.
He gazed at her. "Xixi, what’s on your mind?"
She let out a long sigh. "I was just thinking about how I used to scam people in bars. I never tried it in coffee shops, though. It’s usually hard to con n out of money in places like this..."
In the past, she’d always been too embarrassed to reveal this part of her past to him, always covering it up, afraid he’d look down on her. But at this mont, for so reason, she suddenly didn’t want to hide anything anymore. Look closely, Huang Xiaojue. The innocent girl you first fell in love with? That’s not anymore.
Huang Xiaojue smiled, but there was an imnse bitterness to it.
He didn’t offer any sweet nothings. Instead, he gently covered her hand with his, his touch exceedingly tender. "Xixi, I’m taking you sowhere tomorrow."
"What place?"
"You’ll know when we get there. I’m sure you’ll like it."
The night grew late as he walked her ho. The residential complex was large, and the walk from the main gate to her building was quite a distance. Wan moonlight filtered through the bare branches, making them both appear pale.
Yan Xixi rembered all those long years she had walked ho alone. Finally, there was soone to accompany her. He casually reached for her hand. She didn’t pull away, and he quickly tightened his grip, holding it firmly.
