"Hey, Xiaoya, you’re finally being shrewd for once. Even if you don’t use a single penny of this money, you must take it. How about this: put the money onto a separate card. That way, if your parents are ever driven out by your brother and sister-in-law, or if they fall seriously ill, you’ll have sothing for an ergency. Xiaoya, don’t feel too bad."

Xu Xiaoya was silent for a mont, then lifted her head. "Xixi, I don’t feel sad at all right now."

...

"Really, I feel so relieved now. I’ve never felt this relieved in my entire life. Before, no matter how they treated , I still held out hope for them, worrying about this and that. Now, I actually don’t worry about any of them anymore. I don’t miss them, and I no longer have any feelings for them. The mont I think about how from now on, I’ll only care about myself, and all the money I earn will be for alone, I suddenly feel liberated, completely and utterly saved..."

Yan Xixi rembered the day her mother passed away from illness. It had been such a tragic mont, yet her own feelings back then were almost identical to Xu Xiaoya’s now.

They looked at each other, and a chill ran through them both.

「On Thursday afternoon.」

Yan Xixi received a call from a sales representative about a hoowner’s raffle event with attractive prizes. As soon as work ended, Yan Xixi and Xu Xiaoya eagerly went to participate. The event didn’t last long, ending in about an hour, and Yan Xixi won a small refrigerator. The staff quickly delivered the refrigerator to her new ho. This was the first ti either of them had visited the place since the handover.

Xu Xiaoya was amazed the mont she walked in. The decor was exquisite; the furniture, though not luxurious, was all understated and practical. It had even been thoroughly cleaned—the windows were bright and the surfaces spotless, with impeccable attention to detail. The most remarkable feature was the bedroom, which was at least twenty square ters. It also ca with an attached balcony of nearly the sa size. The balcony had a special design: one wall was entwined with vines, and it was lush with flourishing flowers and trees—a truly original touch.

The more she looked, the more she felt sothing wasn’t quite right. Although it was a one-bedroom, one-living-room apartnt, the living room was quite large, and so was the bedroom. Looking at the kitchen and bathroom, they were also relatively spacious. There’s no way this apartnt is just over fifty square ters, is there?

"Xixi, is this apartnt really just over fifty square ters?"

"That’s what the contract says."

"But from what I can see, this place must be at least seventy or eighty square ters."

Yan Xixi asked, puzzled, "But the contract explicitly states fifty square ters. Maybe there’s a lot of bonus area?"

Xu Xiaoya found it very strange, but she couldn’t quite pinpoint what was odd. After a mont, it suddenly occurred to her: If the contract says fifty square ters, then after deducting for shared public spaces, the actual interior area should only be thirty to forty square ters. But this apartnt definitely has no shared public space deduction and includes a lot of bonus area.

She said cautiously, "This apartnt is really an incredibly good deal."

"Yes, I couldn’t believe it at first either. An online friend of mine recomnded it. He said he could get the best possible deal, and I thought he was just bragging, but it turned out to be true."

"Then you really need to thank him properly."

"Haha, I haven’t even t him."

Xu Xiaoya was greatly surprised. "Really? Are there actually such kind strangers in this world?"

"It’s absolutely true! We’re complete strangers. However, he did say I should treat him to a al. Haha. Xiaoya, to be honest, I’m a little scared of eting him alone. When I invite him for that al, will you co with ?"

Xu Xiaoya was also very curious about this stranger, so she readily agreed.

"Xixi, when do you plan to move in?"

"Soti next month, perhaps. Anyway, this place is simple and move-in ready, so there’s no rush."
