Seeing his face alternate between flushed and pale, and also because he was the only mber of the Huang family she found sowhat tolerable, Xu Xiaoya still did her best to be polite. "Uncle, would you like a refill of your tea?" she asked.
Mr. Huang hastily stood up.
"Xiaoya, I’m sorry. I didn’t see this surveillance video earlier... I truly am sorry. Please convey my deepest apologies to Xixi as well. I feel terribly sorry and deeply ashad."
Xu Xiaoya, on the contrary, felt sowhat uneasy.
Mr. Huang sighed heavily. "There’s not much I can say at this point. I bear responsibility too. Xiaojue’s mother caused such a scene, and I didn’t step in. Now... I’m speechless. We can only wait for Xiaojue to return so he can apologize to Xixi personally."
In a soft voice, Xu Xiaoya replied, "Uncle, Xixi also asked to tell you not to worry. She will never see Huang Xiaojue again for the rest of her life, and she will definitely not disrupt your family’s happiness again."
This statent completely dumbfounded Mr. Huang.
The door to the ergency room opened and closed as relatives ca and went.
Yang Wei was in no life-threatening danger, but he had to lie motionless on the bed. His mouth was completely torn. For the ti being, he couldn’t eat and had to rely on liquid nutrition.
Just then, Yang Wei’s heavily pregnant wife, Li Shanni, arrived in tears. She had co to the hospital to give birth, only to find her husband in the ergency room, his condition uncertain.
She wailed loudly. Her aunt, irritated, snapped, "What are you bawling about? Go and wait in the delivery room."
The daughter-in-law, fuming but too timid to object, dejectedly clutched her belly and went to the delivery room alone.
The aunt then headed to her elder sister’s ward. Just as she reached the door, she saw her brother-in-law rushing over. He gave her a cold look.
Steeling herself, she said, "Brother-in-law, I ca to see if my elder sister is doing any better..."
Mr. Huang replied coldly, "She only has a minor superficial wound. She should have been discharged long ago."
In disbelief, she asked, "My elder sister is being discharged just like that? What if there are lingering effects?"
"What lingering effects can a superficial wound have? Or is she planning to freeload in the hospital for the rest of her life?"
The aunt was so taken aback she couldn’t utter a word.
Mrs. Huang erged at the sound, just as Mr. Huang slamd the door shut with a BANG! She shrieked, "Old man! Why are you making such a racket, slamming things around? Who are you putting on this angry act for?"
"Pack your things. You’re being discharged imdiately."
"Discharged? How’s that possible? My back is still aching."
"If you’re not discharged, are you planning to wait here until you’re arrested?"
"What do you an? Why are you being so cryptic? You said you’d co to the hospital first thing this morning, then you disappeared. Where on earth were you, showing up so late?"
Mr. Huang stopped and said, "I went to see Yan Xixi."
Mrs. Huang imdiately asked, "Is she willing to reconcile?"
"Reconcile? In your dreams!"
"Heavens! Is that venomous woman really determined to have Yang Wei jailed? If she won’t consider my feelings, will she not even consider Xiaojue’s? Didn’t she always profess how much she loved Xiaojue? So now her true colors are showing!"
"And now you expect her to consider your son? What is she to your son? Why on earth should she give him any consideration?"
Mrs. Huang sensed sothing was amiss. "Old man, why have you been talking so strangely all this ti?"
Mr. Huang slamd the costics box he was holding onto the table.
Mrs. Huang imdiately opened it. "What’s this?"
Upon seeing the contents, her complexion changed imdiately. "What does this an?"
"Still don’t get it? I went to Yan Xixi’s shop today, intending to swallow my pride and see if reconciliation was possible. But she didn’t even show her face. She just had Xu Xiaoya give this to and told to pass it on to our son."
