"Can you give her phone number?"
"No!"
Li Zhen, still polite, asked, "You must be Xu Xiaoya?"
"So what if I am?" Xu Xiaoya was irritated. Want to talk about reconciliation now? Co to apologize now? It’s too late. Impossible.
"Miss Xu, I also want to apologize to you on behalf of Yang Wei."
"No need. We don’t need any apologies. You can go."
"Miss Xu, I have a sowhat improper request. I’d like to see the surveillance footage from your shop, is that okay?"
Xu Xiaoya gave a cold laugh. This surveillance footage had truly beco a coveted item; one person after another wanted to see it. When Huang’s father had wanted to see it back then, she had been extrely reluctant, only agreeing out of politeness. Why would she casually do a stranger a favor now? Her voice was surprisingly cold. "I’m sorry, you can’t."
"Miss Xu, I’m not looking at the footage for evidence. I just want to see Yan Xixi..."
Xu Xiaoya asked in surprise, "What do you want with Xixi?"
"To be honest, I had a classmate nad Yan Xixi in college. After our graduation photos were taken, I never saw her again. Later, when I went to study in England, I completely lost touch with her. This ti, I ca back to China for so matters and incidentally found out about my cousin-in-law Yang Wei’s conflict with Yan Xixi, so I ca to see if it was indeed her."
When Xu Xiaoya heard him ntion "cousin-in-law," she seethed with anger. So, Huang’s mom was playing the family card! Afraid her nephew would face legal trouble, she pulled all sorts of strings to find diators. She even managed to bring Xixi’s college classmate here. She had been trampled on and indecently assaulted by Yang Wei that day, and then he had repeatedly extorted her. She already hated Yang Wei to the bone; how could she possibly forgive him just like that?
"Mr. Li, I’m sorry. Xixi didn’t go to college; she doesn’t have any college classmates. You can leave."
"Yan Xixi really didn’t go to college?"
"That’s none of your business. You can leave. Go back and tell Huang’s mom and your cousin-in-law that reconciliation is impossible for us. Yang Wei is despicable and vile. Since he dared to extort us repeatedly and dared to hit Xixi, he should have known the consequences he’d face today. He deserves it, and he’s definitely going to jail!"
Li Zhen was taken aback. "Yang Wei hit Yan Xixi? My cousin never ntioned that."
Xu Xiaoya sneered, "Why are you feigning ignorance? None of your family are good people; you’re all vipers from the sa nest! Back then, Yang Wei demanded an exorbitant fifty thousand a day for dical expenses, and in three days, he’d taken a hundred thousand, nearly pushing and Yan Xixi to our deaths. I didn’t see any of you relatives step forward to say a word of justice for us. Now that he’s in trouble, you co begging for rcy? Dream on!"
Observing her expression and words, Li Zhen, who after all had a doctorate in law, imdiately and keenly realized that the accounts from Huang’s mom and his cousin were diatrically opposed to Xu Xiaoya’s.
Xu Xiaoya said bluntly, "Please leave. Don’t hinder our business."
"Miss Xu..."
Xu Xiaoya erupted with anger. "Do you still think this shop belongs to your precious Huang Xiaojue? Have a little sha, will you? We’ve already paid him back the rent and renovation costs, with interest. Xixi has completely broken up with him. This shop doesn’t have a shred of connection to the Huang Family anymore! If you keep pestering us, don’t bla us for being rude!"
Li Zhen was stunned.
This shop used to be funded by Huang Xiaojue? Yan Xixi and Huang Xiaojue were once in a relationship? Why hadn’t Huang’s mom ntioned this at all? If they were really a couple, then this wasn’t a case of business fraud or coercion!
