Having eaten her fill, she instantly felt sowhat better.
Housekeeper Yang had already tidied everything up and said courteously, "Xiaoyan, I won’t disturb you if you need to study. You can set a schedule, and I can co to cook for you every day; all three als would be fine..."
"Thanks, but that’s really not necessary."
"Xiaoyan, please don’t be so polite. After all, the Third Young Master has already paid my salary. Even if you don’t require my services, I won’t issue a refund to the Third Young Master."
She chuckled, and after a mont of thought, said, "How about this? You can co at seven in the morning to prepare breakfast. I usually eat the most for breakfast. I don’t eat much for lunch or dinner. Thank you."
Housekeeper Yang agreed happily and left.
After closing the door, Yan Xixi went back to the terrace and found her phone screen continuously lighting up.
"Miss, have you had your lunch?"
"Eat more and get well soon. Don’t you dare fake an illness to avoid studying. Once you get into Harvard, you’ll realize how laughable your previous mindset was. Do you know what a ’frog in a well’ is? People who haggle over every trivial thing will remain small-minded their whole lives..."
"Look at the docunts I sent you; they’ll help broaden your horizons..."
In her email inbox, there were several files he had sent.
These were so highly confidential files from the financial world, even including so of the less sensitive topics from their eting today.
She read through them ticulously. She had thought that, as a graduate from a highly-ranked university who constantly studied, she would be knowledgeable. Yet, much of this material left her completely baffled, like a total novice. She couldn’t help but break out in a sweat. While so people were wallowing in sentintality or struggling to make ends et over a few paltry pennies, others were shaping economic trends worth hundreds of billions, even trillions, of US dollars. Without comparison, one truly wouldn’t know the extent of the gap.
Picking up her books again, she suddenly felt a surge of strength.
She threw herself into her studies, working day and night until one in the morning, yet she still felt full of energy.
Her phone lit up again. "Miss, are you asleep?"
"Just about to."
He sent a fire-breathing dragon emoji. "Didn’t I tell you that you absolutely must sleep before midnight? Why the delay? You’ve only just started feeling better; do you want to get sick again?"
"TSK TSK TSK, it’s just a mild cold, dear. Don’t be so dramatic."
He chuckled, "Can’t sleep because you miss ?"
This guy.
Surprisingly, she didn’t retort with her usual sarcasm. People do beco weaker when they’re sick. Miss him? In this world, besides him, who else could she think of? Who else would even pay her any mind?
"HAHA, it’s no use missing now. This eting will last for another two days. HMPH HMPH HMPH, by the ti I return, you should be mostly recovered. Then, we can... ’reunite’..."
Just when she thought he was starting to sound a little mature, he imdiately brought up ’reuniting’ again.
A man and a woman, alone together in the dead of night... it really wasn’t the right ti to discuss such a topic.
"Xixi, go to sleep early. I’ll buy you a gift when I co back."
She chuckled softly at that.
「The next morning.」
She woke up naturally and lazily got out of bed. A lavish breakfast was already laid out on the table: bacon and eggs, fresh croissants slathered with high-quality butter, a large plate of grilled lamb chops, a serving of broccoli, and a big bowl of steaming hot rock sugar bird’s nest soup.
Housekeeper Yang said very enthusiastically, "Xiaoyan, studying is hard work, so you must eat more brain-boosting foods. Your nutrition needs to keep up. I studied nutrition for a while, and breakfast is especially important. As long as you don’t feast heavily at dinner, you won’t gain weight no matter how much you eat for breakfast."
