Yan Xixi, perhaps unnerved by their scrutiny or for so other reason, blurted out rather hastily, "Hello, Empress Dowager! Hello, Princess!"
Wan Donglin burst out laughing.
Wan Dongi laughed until tears nearly welled in her eyes. "Oh my God... HAHAHA... Yan Xixi, you’re really sothing! So, how should I address you? Hello, Princess Consort? Hello, Crown Princess Consort? Or maybe, hello, Empress?"
Yan Xixi also started laughing.
This laughter imdiately relieved the tension in the room.
It was Liu Daqing who decisively announced, "Let’s start the al."
Everyone obeyed and took their seats.
The food was not as extravagant as she had expected. There were only seven or eight small dishes, with both at and vegetarian options. There were no fancy items like shark’s fin or sea cucumber; instead, it was a wholeso combination of coarse and fine grains.
Everyone had a glass of red wine before them. Liu Daqing raised her glass first. "This al is to welco Xixi on her first visit to our ho, and also to celebrate Donglin’s birthday..."

Today was Wan Donglin’s birthday? Why hadn’t he ntioned it even once?
Observing Yan Xixi’s bewildered expression, Liu Daqing sighed inwardly. Could it be that after more than three years, she still doesn’t know my son’s birthday? Poor boy. No wonder he resorted to that ’kidnapping’ stunt before. It seems he never truly captured her heart.
Wan Dongi also raised her glass. "Let’s skip the pleasantries. Donglin, you know what the Empress Dowager and I wish for. More than anything, we hope you’ll have a child soon..."
Liu Daqing glared at her. "What are you stirring up trouble for? And you’re calling ’Empress Dowager’ too?"
"HAHA, Empress Dowager, you can’t bla for this. If you want to bla soone, bla your Crown Princess Consort. She’s the one who gave you that nickna; I’m just following suit... HEHE, and you have to admit, ’Empress Dowager’ rolls off the tongue much more smoothly than ’Lady Daqing’..."
Liu Daqing could only sigh in resignation.
Wan Donglin laughed heartily. "Eat up, eat up! I appreciate everyone’s encouragent and will definitely work hard..."
Yan Xixi ate and drank with everyone, still feeling sowhat dazed and preoccupied. His birthday! It really was his birthday! So that’s what he ant when he mysteriously said I *had* to go. But why didn’t he tell ?
After the al, they tasted Da Hong Pao tea, had so cake, and chatted for a while. Liu Daqing stretched languidly. "It’s getting late. You two must have been tired from last night. Go ho and get so rest early tonight."
Wan Donglin reached out his hand.
"What is it?"
Wan Donglin’s face lit up. "The red envelope."
Everyone stared at him, their gazes heavy with implication.
He, however, remained unfazed. "Empress Dowager, why are you playing dumb? Hand over the red envelope. This is Xixi’s first ti visiting our ho and having dinner with us. It wouldn’t be proper if you didn’t give one, right?"
Wan Dongi let out a chuckle.
Yan Xixi’s face flushed crimson. Who asks for a red envelope so brazenly in public? I had initially assud he was asking for a birthday red envelope.
Liu Daqing grunted coldly, then actually reached over to the side table and pulled out a red envelope.
Wan Donglin took it, imdiately emptied it, and began to count the bills one by one.
"No need to count; it’s ten thousand."
He imdiately stuffed the money back into the envelope and whistled. "One in ten thousand! HA! Xixi, did you see that? The Empress Dowager herself acknowledges that you’re one in ten thousand!"
