Xu Xiaoya said in disbelief, "Is Wan Donglin that stingy?"
She didn’t answer. This was the first ti she had ever withdrawn cash from her credit card. Previously, she hadn’t needed to spend much money. She certainly didn’t dare try to sell her designer clothes, bags, or jewelry. Besides, such items were like won—their value plumted once they changed hands, so selling them wouldn’t yield much cash anyway.
Xu Xiaoya held the ager sum, her disappointnt palpable.
Just then, her phone rang. Her voice suddenly brightened with surprise as she said, "Minghui, where are you? ...You’re coming to pick up? That’s great! I’ll wait here for you..."
She hung up, her gloomy expression vanishing in an instant. "Xixi, Zhong Minghui finally called! He said he’s coming to pick up right away... I was so scared he’d keep giving the cold shoulder and never co ho again..."
Yan Xixi just forced a smile, feigning happiness for her friend.
In truth, she knew Zhong Minghui just wanted to see how much money they had managed to borrow.

His eyes fixed on Yan Xixi’s face and seed unable to look away, as if he’d discovered a new continent. "Xiaoya, so this is your best friend, Yan Xixi? She’s truly a great beauty; her reputation is well-deserved!"
It’s often said that true loyalty cos from humble stock, while scholars are frequently the ones to betray trust.
The mont Yan Xixi saw his deanor, she knew it was bad. The situation was even worse than Xu Xiaoya had described.
He was overly familiar and excessively attentive. "Xixi, I’ve heard so much about you and have been wanting to treat you to dinner for ages. Would you honor with your company for dinner tonight? My treat."
"Thank you for the kind offer, but I have plans tonight."
Yan Xixi had no desire to stay any longer and made her excuses, saying she was busy.

My mother has already picked out three apartnts, all with good layouts. One of them is in a fantastic location with a great environnt. Both Mom and I are very pleased with it. I’m planning to pay the deposit this weekend..."
"Take it!" Xu Xiaoya handed him the 15,000.
His eyes widened when he saw the amount, and he exclaid, "Seriously? Xu Xiaoya, didn’t you pat your chest and swear she was your die-hard best friend? How co she only lent 15,000? Are you trying to fob off a beggar?"
Xu Xiaoya whispered, "She doesn’t have any money either. It’s not that she won’t help, it’s that she can’t."
"Isn’t she with a rich man? How can she have no money? Don’t you know who Wan Donglin is? A single hair from Wan Donglin is thicker than our waists! How could she possibly have no money?"
"You know as well as I do, that’s Wan Donglin’s money, not hers!"
"So, now that she’s rich, she looks down on her poor friend, huh? Just tosses a few scraps your way to get rid of you."
Xu Xiaoya said, displeased, "Minghui, don’t be so nasty. She really couldn’t help it."
