"If you’re going to thank anyone, thank Miss Hua. I don’t have much sympathy," Qi Longbing said with a faint, bland smile, his eyes cold and challenging. He looked as if he thought himself above everyone else.
Hua Xiaomo’s heart skipped a beat when she heard this. It wasn’t the first ti she had heard him say these words.
)
She rembered that incident at the "Emma Show Field," where Ye Xiangxue had nearly been forced to drink an entire bottle of "Whiskey," and he had tossed out the sa remark.
"Take to see your manager, will you?" Qi Longbing glanced at Jiang Shuying. She had large eyes, delicate eyebrows, and a slender, well-proportioned figure. While quite attractive, for so reason, she seed to pale in comparison when standing next to Hua Xiaomo.
"Of course, President Qi, please follow ," Jiang Shuying said hurriedly, casting a grateful glance at Hua Xiaomo. In a soft voice, she added, "Miss Hua, thank you so much."
"It’s nothing," Hua Xiaomo replied with a light smile. She glanced towards Qi Longbing, her expression seemingly nonchalant, but intuitively, she felt he wasn’t the type to be utterly heartless.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have helped Jiang Shuying just because of a word I said, she mused.
Indeed, with Qi Longbing stepping in, the matter was resolved with a single word. The pudgy manager, who had wanted to fire Jiang Shuying, saw President Qi speaking up for her. He imdiately started fawning over him, stopping just short of pressing his face to Qi Longbing’s in his sycophancy.
Qi Longbing pressed his palm against the man’s face. "Stop talking, or I’ll fire you." Disgusting slobber!
Then Qi Longbing quickly walked towards the elevator. He turned back to look at Hua Xiaomo, who was still there. He said nothing, but a faint, ethereal smile brushed his lips. She certainly knows how to play the good Samaritan, he thought.
After Qi Longbing left in the elevator, Hua Xiaomo waited a while longer before patting Jiang Shuying on the shoulder. "Hey, I should be going now."
"Miss Hua, thank you so much," Jiang Shuying said, moved once again.
"My na is Hua Xiaomo; you can call Xiao Mo. If there are any exhibitions in the future... rember to notify , okay? This is my phone number," Hua Xiaomo said with a smile, and they quickly exchanged numbers.
"Yes, definitely."
After saying goodbye to Jiang Shuying, Hua Xiaomo quickly returned to her job at McDonald’s.
"Manager, good afternoon."
"Xiao Mo, I’m glad you’re here. I was really getting swamped," the manager said.
Hua Xiaomo smiled at the tall, mixed-race manager, then quickly changed into her work uniform and got busy.
Wiping down the tables again and again, watching them transform from dirty and ssy to clean and tidy, she felt a true sense of accomplishnt from her labor.
A pair of deep blue eyes watched her movents in the store through a telescope. For so reason, Qi Longbing just watched and didn’t seem in a hurry to go inside.
Through the telescope, he saw her smile again—a sweet, happy grin, the kind she seemingly never showed when she was with him.
He also saw the tall, mixed-race store manager occasionally bring her water or hand her a towel. She accepted everything cheerfully, always with a smile. Alright then, still smiling, he noted with so pique.
Damn woman, are you really that happy? Qi Longbing cursed silently. Is she really working this hard at McDonald’s just to woo that handso foreigner? he wondered.
He then recalled the recent exhibition. He had seen her staring intently at the War God in the painting "Venus and War God," not looking away even for a mont. That’s exactly what the War God looks like, and yet she watched with such concentration... And she seed to really like that Goddess Venus too...
For a mont, Qi Longbing’s expression shifted through several odd contortions as he smiled thoughtfully. Hua Xiaomo’s ideas are quite naive... but then again, I do like naive girls like her, he thought. I want to befriend her even more. If she’s willing, we could beco very good friends!
