Lu Jingchen glanced up faintly at Xi Mohan sitting opposite him, his eyes slightly squinting as a vague smile appeared on his lips.
Yet inside, he was sighing continuously, thinking that Xi Mohan was really fucking sick, coming to his office early in the morning and sitting there for hours without a word. Not a word to be said, not even a fart; just sitting silently like a ghost. If it wasn’t for occasionally lifting his head and noticing him sitting opposite, plus his aura being so chillingly cold, he would have easily forgotten there was a person sitting there.
Having been under his gaze all morning, Lu Jingchen really wanted to pry open the man’s mouth to see if he had actually beco mute, so he could arrange for a doctor to treat him.
Xi Mohan, of course, was unaware of what Lu Jingchen was thinking. His face remained as indifferent as ever. Aside from when Lu Jingchen had spoken earlier and he had slightly darkened his expression, it was difficult for him to show any additional emotions, his whole presence as if enclosed in a millennium-old iceberg. Even when the secretary had brought in the coffee, she was so startled she didn’t dare to breathe.
He stretched out his hand to take a look at his phone for the ti, then raised his eyes to the man opposite him and spoke in an even tone, "You’ve been sitting here for three hours already, and it’s almost ti to wrap up the day. Don’t you have your company to attend to? Does Xi Group not need you anymore?"
Xi Mohan remained silent, his gaze shifting towards the floor-to-ceiling window behind Lu Jingchen, as if trying to see sothing through it.
Looking at Xi Mohan in front of him, Lu Jingchen thought of a word to describe him.
Half-dead.
Beyond this, he really couldn’t think of any other word to describe the guy.
The man opposite him was still silent, and Lu Jingchen lost his patience. He had hardly completed any work that morning because of this guy; after all, his formidable presence made it impossible to ignore. It wasn’t just irritating anymore; at this mont, he genuinely wanted to have soone toss this man out.
But then he thought about the capabilities of his own bodyguards compared to this man who had spent over a decade in the military, and they were not on the sa level, so he abandoned the idea.
He carelessly tossed his phone back on the table, squinting his deep-set eyes, and scoffed, "You’re playing mute here; isn’t that too boring? Not even letting off a fart, what the hell do you want, Xi Mohan? If you’re pissed off, must you drag down with you? Or is it that Ning Wan, that woman, has died out there?"
A ’clang’ sound of a cup smashing onto the floor reverberated in the next second, followed by the man opposite suddenly standing up and the chair scraping against the floor.
"Lu Jingchen, don’t think for a second I won’t hit you," Xi Mohan’s face was filled with coldness, his eyes instantly turning sharp.
Lu Jingchen’s eyebrows rose slightly, his expression remaining unchanged, only sowhat surprised at the man’s overreaction. But then he seed to understand and spoke in an unruffled voice, "I thought you had really turned mute. Such a big reaction, has Ning Wan really gotten into trouble? Don’t you dislike her? Why so anxious? Mo Han, have you fallen in love with her?"
Although his words were phrased as a question, they carried a certain conviction.
