Song Qiao nodded with a smile and directly got into the car, but as she bent over to sit down, she felt as if a flash of light darted past. She frowned and looked toward the distance but saw nothing.
At noon, Song Qiao returned to the villa to join Lu Jingchen for a al. The man didn’t say much except for enthusiastically serving her dishes, all of which she liked. Without overthinking it, Song Qiao simply ate. After the al, because she was pressed for ti, she didn’t stay long at ho and had the driver take her back to the office.
Since An Ke and Qin Zhe were both out of town for a shoot, the company allowed an assistant to take her leave and accompany them. They would only be back in a couple of days.
Concerning the company’s plans to focus on cultivating the two of them, Song Qiao thought it over and decided to wait until their return to tell them, as it didn’t seem appropriate to discuss it over the phone.

After work in the afternoon, the driver still ca to pick her up. The people coming out of the office saw Song Qiao getting into the luxurious car, naturally sparking discussions.
Song Qiao, however, didn’t give it much thought and let them say whatever they wanted to.
With the wedding set for the fifteenth of next month, her status was bound to be revealed, and that was the ti to truly settle these matters.
When they passed a cake shop, Song Qiao had the driver stop, "Wait for here for a bit, I’m going to buy sothing."
The driver nodded promptly, "Certainly, madam."
This was the largest cake shop in An City, known for its delicious cakes. When Song Qiao was in university and working part-ti, she used to pass by here. Back then, she didn’t have much money and couldn’t afford the cakes even though she wanted them.
Later, when she had a job and money, she frequently visited the shop with Ning Wan to buy cakes.
She had already called Lu Jingchen to tell him she would first visit Ning Wan at the hospital before returning to the villa. Lu Jingchen was aware of her relationship with Ning Wan, and without saying much, just asked her to co back early.
The cake shop still had the sa owner, just with a few new employees. The girl who used to greet them and give them discounts was still there. Seeing Song Qiao walk in, her eyes lit up and she approached, "Miss Song, it’s been a long ti. What kind of cake would you like this ti?"
Seeing her, Song Qiao was taken aback and smiled, then replied, "The usual, and also an extra Black Forest cake, to go."
"All right, please wait a mont," the girl smiled and turned to prepare the order.
The layout of the cake shop hadn’t changed much, but it looked much more luxurious than before. The display window was filled with various styles of cake samples and so pastries.
Song Qiao didn’t have a particular fondness for sweets but found occasional indulgence quite pleasant. Sweets could improve one’s mood when feeling down.
Compared to Song Qiao, Ning Wan had a greater love for sweets and had the kind of figure that didn’t gain weight no matter what she ate, so she never hesitated to indulge.
Soft instruntal music played inside the cake shop, and Song Qiao stood in front of a display, her gaze landing on a beautifully crafted cake.
"Song Xi, what flavor of cake do you want? Today is your birthday, I’ll buy you one," the door of the cake shop was opened, footsteps followed, including the sound of high heels on the floor.
"Anything’s fine, any flavor will do," a sowhat sulky voice responded.
The voice was very familiar, and Song Qiao’s body stiffened instantly, almost instinctively looking towards the door, she saw Song Xi walking in with a boy.
Song Xi was dressed in a short-sleeved, knee-length dress embroidered with dark green leaves, looking quite fetching, except her face was devoid of a smile, clearly not in the best of spirits.
Today is... Song Xi’s birthday?
Song Qiao couldn’t clearly rember Song Xi’s birthday but did recall that when Song Xi had just returned to the Song Family, every year on her birthday, whether it was her so-called grandmother or her so-called father, they would bring back a huge cake and even invite so of Song Xi’s friends over for a celebration, making it more lively than anyone else’s birthday.
In contrast, it was as if no one rembered Song Qiao’s own birthday. Except for Ning Wan, no one else seed to rember it yearly, not to ntion having a celebration by her family.
Back then, Song Qiao had been quite envious of Song Xi.
