After the boss left, all that was known was that Ning Wan had lived there for two days, but beyond that, nothing else was known.
In the reception room, there was only the man standing still, his tall and upright figure resting motionlessly, radiating an aura of cold indifference that deterred anyone from approaching.
He had always been like this, cold as ice, with a face that hardly ever smiled, expressionless towards everyone, making it impossible for anyone to guess what was really going through his mind.
The door to the reception room was pushed open again, slamming against the wall with a piercing noise. The loud bang startled the motionless man to glance back at the newcor, only to find that it was Song Qiao and then he quickly averted his gaze again.
Song Qiao walked up to him in a few steps, seemingly out of breath as if she had run there. The first thing she did was to confront him, "Xi Mohan, where is Ning Wan? I heard you found so information about her. Where is she now?"
The reception room was cool and comfortable thanks to the air conditioning, but even so, as soon as Song Qiao got close to the man, perhaps due to his overpowering presence and the excessive coldness on his face, she felt a chill emanating from him and striking her.
Hearing Song Qiao’s words, the man looked up and gave her a faint glance, his lips tightly pursed, his face still showing that indifferent look. After a long while, his lips parted slightly, and he called out her na with a detached tone, void of any emotion, "Song Qiao, I was about to ask you, where did she go?"
Song Qiao was taken aback, but then laughed bitterly, "You’re asking ?"
"What else do you think?" The man’s expression remained cold as he stepped forward towards her. His gaze fixed on her as if trying to discern sothing from her face, and he continued, "In this world, apart from you, her best friend, she has no other trusted acquaintances. Song Qiao, shouldn’t I be asking you?"
Ning Wan hadn’t left An City; this much he was certain of.
But as to where Ning Wan was, he didn’t know... However, his lack of knowledge didn’t an that Song Qiao didn’t know. After all, Song Qiao was that woman’s best friend in this world, the only person she truly trusted.
If Ning Wan could contact anyone, it would be Song Qiao.
Only through Song Qiao would he possibly find out where she was, or even manage to bring her back.
Song Qiao looked at the man in front of her, feeling imnse disgust towards him from the very beginning, a feeling that was completely capitalized.
Now that Ning Wan had disappeared, she was the one being questioned. Even if she knew where Ning Wan was, she wouldn’t tell this man.
But the problem was that she didn’t know either.
"Xi Mohan, you’re giving too much credit." Song Qiao still laughed coldly, her face showing no attempt to conceal her dislike and discomfort with the man as she continued, "If I knew where Ning Wan is, do you think I would co asking you? Xi Mohan, I even suspect that you’re the one who has hidden her."
"She is still in An City." The man’s lips remained tight, not concealing this information from Song Qiao, "If she is in An City, how could she possibly not contact you?"
Hearing Xi Mohan say that Ning Wan was still in An City, Song Qiao’s eyes narrowed with shock, and she responded in sowhat disbelief, "Wanwan is still in An City?"
"You didn’t know?" The frown on Xi Mohan’s face tightened, his tone still as indifferent, sounding like an accusation, but also as if he was seeking confirmation.
"I told you, I don’t know," said Song Qiao, anger flaring up as she locked eyes with the man in front of her and continued, "Xi Mohan, if Ning Wan wants to hide and not to be found by you, it’s normal that she wouldn’t contact . What if she guessed that you would have soone monitor ? And even if I did know her whereabouts, I would never tell you. Not to ntion that I don’t know where she is, I’m also looking for her."
The man didn’t say anything more, but slightly lowered his eyes and gazed at the floor in front of him, as if pondering so issue.
Seeing Xi Mohan’s attitude, Song Qiao felt even more annoyed; she hated the way this man acted the most, his face showing no emotion, completely inscrutable.
After a long mont, she gritted her teeth and scoffed coldly, "Xi Mohan, don’t you think that if Ning Wan didn’t want you to find her, she would definitely hide herself safely? Or do you think she can’t bear to stay away from you for long? If you really think so, you might be disappointed. Don’t be too sure about her feelings for you not fading. Any feeling under such cold treatnt from a man like you will sooner or later be completely worn away—perhaps she doesn’t love you anymore?"
