"Wait for downstairs, I just need to input so data, a few minutes will do."
"Alright, I’ll go to the restroom first and wait for you by the door afterwards."
Lu An’an quickly nodded, her fingers swiftly tapping on the keyboard.
As Song Qiao headed for the restroom, her phone rang just as she was about to exit the office door.
Checking her phone, she saw the incoming call was from Lu Jingchen, sliding to answer and placing it to her ear, she softly greeted with a ’hello’.
On the other end, Lu Jingchen was sitting on the living room sofa with a laptop in front of him, the screen displaying a movie Song Qiao often enjoyed, now paused.
Hearing Song Qiao’s voice, though it was just a simple ’hello’, his heart softened a bit. His voice, deep and slightly hoarse with an enticing tone, said, "Co ho for lunch. I had the chef prepare your favorite dish. Should I send the driver to pick you up?"
Song Qiao paused in her steps, then responded, "I just invited An’an to lunch so I won’t be coming back."
An’an.
His own sister...
Lu Jingchen’s brows furrowed slightly before he said, "You can invite her for a al next ti too."
Song Qiao entered the restroom, washed her hands under the faucet, and then said, "I’ve just returned to work and haven’t had lunch with An’an in a long ti. Since I’ve already promised to go out with her, it wouldn’t be right to cancel now. Plus, it’s too rushed to go back now; it would take an hour just to travel."
"Xiao Qiao." The man on the phone, his voice llow and tender, called her na, and then spoke, "I miss you. Co ho for lunch, okay?"
The most touching love words in the world, none other than ’I miss you.’
These words reached Song Qiao’s ears, sending a tingling sensation throughout her body. Unsure whether it was her own interpretation, she unconsciously responded with a soft "Okay."
Clearly pleased to hear her answer, Lu Jingchen said, "I’ve asked the driver to pick you up so you should see him downstairs."
The driver is already sent to pick up.
Song Qiao bit her lip, looked up at herself in the mirror, and with a hint of complaint said, "Lu Jingchen, did you just assu that I would agree to co ho for lunch?"
"Not really," chuckled Lu Jingchen, his laugh low, then he added, "I just felt that if you weren’t going to co ho, I’d let the driver wait there until you’re finished in the afternoon."
Song Qiao, "...Is that really okay?"
After hanging up the phone, Song Qiao washed her hands and then stepped out of the restroom, only to see Lu An’an, hurriedly erging with her purse.
On seeing Song Qiao, Lu An’an quickly apologized, "Xiao Qiao, sorry, sothing ca up at ho, my parents asked to co back so I can’t join you for lunch."
What a coincidence?
Seeing the anxious look on Lu An’an’s face, Song Qiao didn’t say much but smiled and said, "It’s alright, if you have matters to attend to, go ahead."
"Sorry Xiao Qiao, I owe you a al next ti."
"Okay, An’an, you’re on."
Lu An’an smiled faintly, nodded, and then quickly walked away.
Song Qiao stood still, feeling sothing was amiss. She had just agreed to return for lunch with Lu Jingchen and was thinking about how to inform Lu An’an when Lu An’an had to rush ho for an ergency.
Thinking it over, she could not figure it out, shook her head to rid the doubts and turned to enter the arriving elevator.
anwhile, already seated in her car in the parking lot, Lu An’an called Lu Jingchen. As soon as the call connected, she said, "Brother, I’ve done as you asked. You better keep your promise."
Lu Jingchen humd in response.
Lu An’an sowhat indignant, continued, "Brother, why are you so dependent on your wife? It’s not good like this."
"This is my own business. Mind yours," he replied, then hung up the phone abruptly.
Lu An’an stared at her phone, stunned, and then, close to tears, realized her phone had also run out of battery and powered off.
As soon as Song Qiao stepped out of the company building, she saw the familiar car at the entrance. The driver, upon seeing her, got out of the car and walked to the back seat to open the door for her, respectfully greeting her with a "Madam."
