Waves surged, and the surface of the lake was a splash of water mist.

The choppy waves dispersed, causing the surrounding boats to rock violently.

The boats at Baihe Bay were all skiff-type, with arched bottoms, agile maneuverability, steady when passing shoals, shallow draft, and little resistance – many advantages indeed.

Yet, they were equally affected by the waves.

The boats shook violently, and straight away soone lost their footing and fell into the water.

But whether it was Wang Lao Beng, Chen San, or Bai Wenghai, none of them could be bothered with that matter now; all eyes were firmly fixed on the opposite side.

The Tomb Guardian Beast moved swiftly. Though wrapped in waves and only striking once before diving back into the lake, they could still make out its form vaguely.

It was a strange giant beast, long and narrow like a snake but covered in fur. Even though draped in green algae, one could see that its base color was white.

Even more bizarre were the sharp and slender claws protruding all around its body, much like centipedes.

And its head was that of a beast, resembling so kind of white ferret with blood-red eyes, a gaping mouth, and especially ferocious canine teeth.

"What in the world is this?"

Wang Lao Beng gasped in shock.

He had seen Tomb Guardian Beasts, of course.

Such Secret Techniques left by Fang Xian Dao either sealed an Exotic Beast using a secret thod similar to the Turtle Breath Technique, which would break the seal and attack anyone who trespassed, usually not living long afterward.

Or, it involved cultivating a large group of Exotic Beasts, forming an ecological circle with mutual restraints: you eat , I eat you, the species continuously breeding.

But regardless of the type, they were nothing more than fierce beasts and poisonous insects.

For example, he had encountered a Tomb Guardian Beast that was a tiger refined into an undead creature to block tomb raiders.

But he had never heard of this giant beast before.

It was comparable to the bizarre creatures from the "Classic of Mountains and Seas."

Boom!

Before the crowd could recover, the giant beast burst forth from the water again, biting a small boat and the person on it into pieces.

"Quick, get to shore!"

Wang Lao Beng imdiately shouted.

They were at a complete disadvantage in the water; their only chance was to get to shore and kill the creature.

But just then, a shocking event occurred.

A dark shadow glided across the lakebed, heading toward another small boat.

Seeing this, Bai Wenghai suddenly shouted, "Fourth brother, it’s heading toward you, act now!"

Upon hearing this, a man on that boat imdiately opened his backpack and took out an oil-paper package.

He tore open the package, pulled out a piece of fuse, then shielded the rain with his hand, lit the flint, and ignited it directly.

Boom!

Just then, the Tomb Guardian Beast erupted from the water, biting the small boat in half. The gunpowder package was swallowed by the beast before it dove back into the lake’s depths.

Thud!

A muffled sound ca from the lakebed.

Then, a large patch of dark water surged up, the lake surface becoming foul-slling.

Seizing the opportunity, the crowd paddled frantically, ascending to shore in a panic.

After reaching the shore, they exhaled in relief and looked toward the lake.

Amidst the pouring rain, sothing began to rise from the water’s surface, resembling a furry long snake with half of its body showing and head and tail subrged, motionless.

"Is it dead?"

Wang Lao Beng swallowed hard.

This was the first ti he had seen such a ferocious Tomb Guardian Beast.

Splash!

At that mont, the giant beast began to wriggle again, and finally, its head slowly erged above the water’s surface.

The creature’s head, much like a ferret’s but extrely ferocious, now had half its mouth and cheeks blown away, rotten flesh dangling at the corners, oozing black blood, and it stared deadly at them.

It turns out that the beast had rely been stunned by the explosion.

"Prepare!"

Bai Wenghai commanded, and many of his subordinates imdiately took out oil-paper packages, lit their flints without fear, and intently watched the lake’s giant beast.

It seed that they were prepared to destroy the beast, even at the cost of their own lives.

"Roar!"

The giant beast also seed to sense the threat, letting out a sharp howl at them, then suddenly turned and dove into the water, speeding towards the center of the lake, soon disappearing without a trace.

"Did we frighten it away?"

Chen San looked towards Bai Wenghai.

As he spoke, he discreetly observed the subordinates.

He was also full of shock at this mont.

The presence of the giant beast was one thing; the key was these people.

Ever since the court lost control over gunpowder regulation, he had grown fond of the stuff, not only using it to blast tombs but also to kill enemies.

But he had never thought of using it this way.

After all, no one’s a fool, daring to readily commit suicide with gunpowder.

This group of people were definitely not re bandits!

Bai Wenghai gazed at the distant lake surface, pensive, then spoke in a deep voice, "It should have fled, quick, let’s take this chance to enter the tomb!"

At his command, the people of Baihe Bay hurried onto the boats.

Such eagerness made Chen San frown, "Patriarch Bai, isn’t this too hasty, what if inside..."

"Hahaha."

Bai Wenghai laughed, "No worries, if you’re afraid, just stay outside; we’ll go in first to have a look."

With that said, he ignored the others and boarded the boat.

This strategy of retreating to advance was indeed clever.

Wang Lao Beng and Chen San had originally planned to send a few people into the tomb to set things up, then enter themselves to find an opportunity to hide.

This trick, called "ghost-covering-the-eyes," was a common ruse among tomb raiders.

Sotis when entering a large tomb and finding other people, they would play dead in secret, then strike or wait for others to disarm the chanism and reap the benefits.

But they didn’t expect Bai Wenghai to disregard common practice and lead everyone into the tomb.

Even the old n, won, and children seed excited, as if afraid the treasures inside would be snatched by others.

Damn it!

Wang Lao Beng and Chen San each cursed under their breath.

The people they brought were skilled, but at that mont, they really didn’t dare start a quarrel with these madn.
