"Enough, I’ve had enough," Ye Shikai shouted loudly, the gloominess deeply buried in his heart like a dormant volcano, and any small movent could potentially trigger an eruption. Moreover, Ye Shikai was not soone willing to be controlled, even by Chen Yuxin.
Suddenly standing up, Ye Shikai used all his might to push Chen Yuxin away and headed towards the door. He turned the handle forcefully and stepped out, but because his limbs were weak, he stumbled and fell towards the ground.
"Careful, sir!" Just as Ye Shikai was about to hit the ground, a large hand suddenly steadied him. The person was Ghost Shadow, who had just co out of the pharmacy. It was all too sudden, and Ghost instinctively went to support Ye Shikai, even addressing him as "sir" without changing the title.
Before he could react, Chen Yuxin rushed out of the room. Ghost quickly helped Ye Shikai up and stepped aside, afraid that Chen Yuxin would notice sothing.
Luckily, Chen Yuxin’s attention wasn’t on Ghost. She quickly walked up to support Ye Shikai’s arm.
"I will take my leave," Ghost said, worried about being discovered by Chen Yuxin, keeping his head down intending to leave. He still managed to glance at Ye Shikai’s condition; it seed that he was deeply suffering from the pain of "dissipation." Frankly, Ghost had been in the Netherworld Palace for so ti and had never seen or heard of Ye Shikai in such a sorry state.
"Why haven’t you let go of yet?" Knowing he couldn’t break free from Chen Yuxin’s hold, Ye Shikai had no choice but to give up, but his attitude seed to move Chen Yuxin. She hadn’t completely lost her "mind," and Ye Shikai was like a tightly stretched string that she couldn’t afford to further provoke.
"Kai, take this." Chen Yuxin took out a pure white pill from her pocket and handed it to Ye Shikai. "This is the antidote for ’dissipation.’ These past days were my fault; I didn’t expect the side effects of ’dissipation’ to be so severe, I..."
Before Chen Yuxin could finish her "confession," Ye Shikai had already swallowed the pill. After a few minutes, his face regained so color. If this truly was the antidote for ’dissipation,’ then at least he wouldn’t suffer the "tornt" anymore. However, because his Dantian was destroyed, he still had no inner strength.
Ye Shikai sat on the ground like he was recovering his strength. Chen Yuxin didn’t help him up either, her face filled with anticipation, waiting for Ye Shikai’s reaction.
"I’m a bit hungry, let’s go to the restaurant," Ye Shikai said mildly, rising from the ground with much energy restored.
"Okay, let’s go together."
..................................................
East Sea.
Inside the rental apartnt, Gu Xin was lying comfortably on the bed, applying a facial mask while watching a variety show. Just then, the apartnt door opened quietly as if the person outside didn’t want to be heard by the person inside.
Gu Xin didn’t need to look to guess who it was.
"What, sneaking around and still know to co back, huh?"
"Haha, Xin’er, I brought you so gifts." Indeed, the visitor was Ghost, who had just returned from Yanjing. Originally, he worried about affording a round-trip ticket on his security guard salary, but since he recovered his mory and so "conveniences," he didn’t refuse, including these Yanjing specialties, all bought using the Netherworld Palace’s funds.
"Put them over there," Gu Xin nodded, suddenly changing the subject, "What did you do in Yanjing?"
"A few friends had so urgent matters; I went to make an appearance." Gu Xin was unaware that Ghost had regained his mory, and the Netherworld Palace people were keeping the secret for him. Frankly, if not for pressing circumstances, Ji Qian didn’t want to disturb Ghost. But hearing of Ye Shikai’s trouble, how could Ghost refuse?
"Is that so... well, don’t make it a habit." Gu Xin pouted reluctantly, "It’s almost the end of the month, taking leave affects hundreds in full attendance pay."
"Haha, isn’t it just money? I can earn more later," Ghost evaded with laughter. Truth be told, as far as money goes, he’s not short now. However, his money can’t be "squandered." He can afford big villas and luxury cars, but how to explain it to Gu Xin?
"Tch, hurry up and take a shower."
"Okay, I’ll go now," Ghost nodded and headed to the bathroom, just as his phone rang.
"Hello, who’s this?"
"Haha, Mr. Gu, don’t you rember ?" ca a hoarse yet magnetic voice over the phone.
As "Gu Li," his phone didn’t have many contacts, apart from a few known friends or colleagues. However, Ghost recognized this voice.
Lang.
When he first arrived in East Sea, Gu Xin had been troubled by so thugs, thankfully saved by Ghost. These thugs belonged to Lang’s subordinates.
Of course, Ghost’s skills were apparent to all, and Lang once extended him an olive branch, but how could Ghost agree, so he declined. As the saying goes, "It’s not fear of the thief stealing, but fear of being targeted." He’s not worried about declining, but it’s troubleso if Lang keeps "targeting."
"So, Lang, what’s up?" Ghost’s face turned dark, but it’s best not to directly offend Lang, given his power.
"If you’re trying to recruit , then forget it. I’ll hang u—"
"Wait, Mr. Gu no need to rush," Lang quickly spoke, "I called, not to recruit you. Honestly, my humble abode can’t accommodate a God like you."
Upon hearing, Ghost breathed a sigh of relief. To "successfully" reject, one must employ wisdom. He didn’t want to offend Lang, but had to decline, so the content of the conversation was crucial. However, it seed Lang wasn’t recruiting.
"Then what is it?"
"Actually, this call is because my master wants to et you."
"Your master is...?"
"Soone Mr. Gu has t, the eldest son of the Zheng Family, Mr. Zheng Ji."
"Oh, it’s him." Ghost nodded; Zheng Ji had a good reputation. He had heard Ye Shikai and Ji Qian discuss him as a suitable partner for collaboration.
"Haha, Mr. Zheng wanted to et you, is tomorrow evening convenient? Would you grace us?"
"This... should be fine. With a rich host offering a feast, why wouldn’t I go?" Ghost laughed.
"That’s great; tomorrow night, I’ll personally bring people to pick up Mr. Gu."
