Now reading: Chapter 1381: The Defeat of the Rebel Army from The Bodyguard King’s CEO Wife, a Urban novel by Eastern Priest.

The distance of twenty steps is enough to kill soone with a thrown rock, let alone with a crossbow arrow. The armor of the rebel army cannot withstand the sharpness of the arrows. Six people released the arrows together, shooting over a hundred crossbow arrows in just over ten seconds. The rebel army didn’t even have ti to resist before they were subrged in the arrow rain.

Ye Shikai is highly skilled in martial arts and has a high level of proficiency with cold weapons like the crossbow, hitting almost every target. The crossbow can shoot over twenty arrows in a short ti, akin to a modern-day submachine gun. Especially without well-defended armor, it’s hard to withstand the crossbow arrows.

Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh.

The group shot all the arrows from the magazine, and all the guards at the gate fell. Ye Shikai replaced the magazine with a new one and carefully checked for any survivors.

"Village chief, it’s all cleared out," Man Cang confird, signaling to the five team mbers above the gate to open it. However, the weight of this gate exceeded Ye Shikai’s expectations. Even with five people pushing the wheel, it was quite strenuous.

"You few, go up and help them," Ye Shikai imdiately adjusted the deploynt. Except for Man Cang, the remaining four team mbers all went up to help. The gate slowly lifted, and Ye Shikai was very nervous. If the calculation was correct, in less than five minutes, the changing of the guard for the rebel army would arrive.

Ye Shikai looked up, the gate had already lifted halfway, but that was sufficient. When the Qin Army rushed to this point, it would still take so ti. By the ti they reached the gate, it would be completely raised.

"Village chief, it’s too dangerous here, let’s go up first," Man Cang felt uneasy. The rebel army changing guard would arrive soon. If they lingered here, it would be too dangerous; they were only ten people.

"No, we need to ensure the main force penetrates into the camp," Ye Shikai and Man Cang climbed the wall to join everyone. Ye Shikai took a signal arrow from his waist, ignited the arrowhead, and shot it into the sky with a crossbow, sending out a sharp sound loud enough for the entire Long Mountain to hear. It was a call-and-response signal, but similarly, the rebel army could hear it too.

"Charge," Shangguan Jian suddenly stood up and shouted loudly. For a mont, the quiet forest outside Long Mountain thundered with loud cries and flas. The Qin Army, holding torches and weapons, surged into the camp like a dark tide, Shangguan Jian leading the cavalry at the forefront.

"Quick, raise the gate," Ye Shikai urged loudly.

"Quickly, beat the drum, the Qin Army is attacking."

"Everyone, get up, prepare for battle."

Panicked shouts echoed in the rebel army camp. Ye Shikai’s inside-outside strategy took advantage of the Qin Army’s mobility to launch a surprise attack. Most of the rebel army was still asleep, and waking up now wouldn’t help.

"The gate is open, hurry to block it," simultaneously the rebel army noticed the anomaly at the gate. The gate that should have descended was pulled up, and the Qin Army was less than fifty steps from the gate.

"Quick, close the gate," a general in the rebel army on horseback shouted. Ye Shikai noticed that most of the rebel army were infantry, with cavalry numbering less than a hundred, and this man was not only on horseback but also commanding.

"I found the rebel army’s leader," Ye Shikai said coldly. anwhile, the now-reactive rebel army was coming in pairs and threes, attempting to cut the rope connected to the wheel to forcibly lower the gate.

"Quickly, shoot arrows to stop them," Ye Shikai ordered, and crossbow arrows fell like raindrops. Most of the approaching rebel army hadn’t yet donned their leather armor and hadn’t noticed the presence of troops atop the gate. In the dark, they couldn’t see arrows, one after another falling under the sky.

"Archers, there are Qin Army troops above the gate, shoot arrows,"

As people released arrows, they also exposed their positions, the mounted leader shouted loudly.

"Not good, everyone follow ," Ye Shikai imdiately ordered, and everyone bent down against the inner side of the wall to avoid the archers’ arrows.

"Quickly, get up there, cut the rope, drop the gate," the Qin Army was reaching the entrance, and the general was quite anxious. If the gate was breached, the camp would fall. The rebel army was untrained and caught off guard—how could they compete with the Qin Army’s fierce forces?

Several patrolling rebel soldiers, nearer, ran to the entrance trying to cut the rope but suddenly it went dark...

"Charge,"

At the gate, Shangguan Jian wielded his spear directly sending soone flying, like heavenly soldiers and generals, leading the cavalry to break through the gate first. This ti, the gate was secured.

The morale of the rebel army plumted. Initially, they were just farrs, sotis having conflicts, fighting with hoes and shovels against neighboring village youths. But before them now was a well-equipped Qin Army cavalry, they were dumbfounded, facing the cavalry’s high horses, appearing quite small...

"Don’t panic, don’t panic, block that gap, quickly lower the gate," the rebel army leader still wanted to turn the tide, but it seed too late, as the dark Qin Army had broken through the gate, archers occupied the wall, and the part of the rebel army responsible for guarding the wall had collapsed without fighting, essentially relinquishing the wall to the Qin Army.

"Kill them," Shangguan Jian saw the rebel army gathering in the distance and directly charged with his n. Crossing the river without settlent, attacking midstream, Qin Army’s long knives and spears pressed against necks even before the rebel army donned armor. Those rushing out of barracks in panic crowded and trampled, almost without resistance, getting slaughtered. The remainder scattered in flight.

"Village chief, where are we going?" anwhile, the squad found a small path, Ye Shikai led them in a detour to the rear of the camp.

"The rebel army’s defeat is imminent, breaking the camp is just a matter of ti. But behind the mountain can lead directly into the deep forest, the rebel leader noticing adversity will certainly escape hurriedly. We must quickly go to the rear camp to block his retreat." Everyone sprinted on, shooting scattered rebels with crossbow arrows. The camp was spinning into chaos, except for a few stragglers, no one noticed the squad circled to the rear camp.

Front camp.

Though so rebel soldiers managed to organize defenses, facing Wild Wolf-like Qin Army, they quickly fell. Without enough shields, barely resisting the Qin Army’s combined arrow and crossbow fire, they could only surrender without weapons.

"Quick, let’s hurry, leave from the rear camp, into the deep forest," the rebel leader sensing adversity swiftly turned his horse, leading several trusted guards to retreat from the battlefield.
