241: Chapter 241: Terrifying Death 241: Chapter 241: Terrifying Death Midnight.

“Boom.” The sky above Yanjing was covered with dark clouds, and several streaks of lightning raced across the pitch-black sky.

For Yanjing, which was gradually cooling down, a fierce downpour was rather unusual.

“Xiao i, what are you daydreaming about?” Inside an ordinary office building, a woman was staring blankly at the heavy rain outside, seemingly pondering sothing, when suddenly, a man holding a stack of docunts waved them in front of her.

“It’s nothing, I’m probably just a little tired from working overti.” The woman, nad Cheng i, was an ordinary white-collar worker in the company, working late in the office as usual.

Apart from the stormy weather outside, nothing seed out of the ordinary.

But for so reason, ever since it started raining, she had begun to feel dizzy, and her chest felt tight as if sothing was pressing down on her.

“Is that so?

Take good care of your health then.

In half a month, we’ll be getting married.

What would I do if you fell ill?

I certainly don’t want to marry a sick bride,” the man said with a concerned expression, moving forward to massage Cheng i’s temples.

“How is that, feeling a bit better?” The man said softly, pouring a cup of hot water for her, “Co on, it’s getting cold, you need to drink more hot water.”

“Thank you, Dong.” Cheng i leaned her head against the man’s chest and then revealed a blissful smile, saying coquettishly, “I’m so glad to be marrying you.”

“Of course, you are.

Alright, I’ll talk to the boss tomorrow so you don’t have to co in for overti.

Look, it’s almost midnight.

How can your body take this?” The man’s face showed a pained expression.

“Forget it, the overti pay is quite good, and I’m almost done anyway.” Setting down the docunt she was holding, she looked at the man in front of her nad Xie Dong, her fiancé.

They both worked in the sa company, and they now lived together.

“You hurry ho and rest then.

I still have so docunts to take care of here.

Be careful on the way.” Xie Dong smiled, looking at the pile of docunts on his desk, his face showing a bit of helplessness.

“Okay then, I’m heading ho.

Make sure you co back after you finish,” said Cheng i, her complexion looking sowhat unwell—perhaps she had caught a cold due to the changing seasons.

As she pushed open the company’s door, a gust of fierce wind swept through, the icy rain pelted her face, and Cheng i shivered from the cold.

Her and Xie Dong’s place was very close to the company, just a few hundred ters away, so they usually walked ho.

Cheng i opened her umbrella, the wind causing it to sway violently side to side.

There were no streetlights and the road was pitch-dark when suddenly, Cheng i turned around and went back into the company.

“Xiao i, why are you back again?” Xie Dong put down the pen in his hand, seeing Cheng i’s wet shoulders, he quickly grabbed a towel for her.

“Dong, I’m…I’m a bit scared.

Could you accompany ho?” Cheng i said timidly, her toes pointing inward and her body trembling slightly.

“This…

alright, I’ll co back here later if needed,” decided Xie Dong after a mont’s thought, agreeing to Cheng i’s request.

He grabbed another umbrella from the desk and they walked to the company’s lobby.

“Mr.

Li, could you please watch over the company for a mont?

I’ll be right back,” Xie Dong spoke to a middle-aged security guard at the reception.

“Sure, be careful out there with the heavy rain,” the security guard said with concern.

Both holding umbrellas, they walked on the dark road.

The storm and thunder overhead were intense, creating an atmosphere like that of a horror movie and combined with the midnight hour, enough to frighten ninety-nine percent of girls.

Cheng i dared not walk alone, but with Xie Dong by her side, she felt safe.

“Boom.”

“Boom.”

Several white flashes of lightning crossed the sky, and the thunder sounded like explosions.

Cheng i was so frightened that she plunged into Xie Dong’s arms, feeling the warmth of her boyfriend.

For so reason, she always felt a tightness in her chest and palpitations, as if she was being watched by sothing.

She slowly let go of Xie Dong and they continued to walk side by side.

“Buzz buzz buzz.” Suddenly, a strange noise sounded in Cheng i’s ear.

Cheng i turned her head abruptly, but there was nothing but emptiness behind her…

“Dong, did you hear any strange noises?” Cheng i, now sowhat afraid, whispered.

“Dong, Dong.” Strangely, Xie Dong didn’t respond to her.

Cheng i slowly turned her head back.

“Ah!” Cheng i scread.

A horrifying scene unfolded—Xie Dong had disappeared.

Cheng i had walked this route many tis.

There were no alleys around, and below them was a river.

How could Xie Dong have vanished, leaving even his umbrella nowhere to be seen?

“Dong, don’t scare .” The chilling spectacle terrified Cheng i, her neck feeling cold, and at this point she was terrified to the extre, tears streaming down her face as she hysterically called out Xie Dong’s na.

“Buzz buzz buzz.” At that mont, the strange noise returned, this ti from behind.

Cheng i turned around quickly, as if sothing had flown past.

She turned her head slowly forward, and in front of her were a pair of blood-red eyes, only inches away.

“Ah!” A scream quickly drowned out by the noise of the pouring rain…

The next morning, after a night of downpour, the sun finally shone brightly.

Zhang Ting arrived at the police station early, stretching lazily.

Since she returned to being a detective, she had not run into any cases, and when bored, the image of Ye Shikai would pop into her mind.

“Why am I thinking about that jerk.” Zhang Ting shook her head and took a sip of hot tea.

“Ting…

Ting, there’s been an accident.” At that mont, an officer rushed in, startling Zhang Ting into spitting out her hot tea.

“What’s the big rush?” Zhang Ting wiped her mouth, visibly annoyed.

“There’s been a homicide on Hunxi Bridge, soone is dead.” The officer stuttered.

“What?

The detection team, move out imdiately.” Zhang Ting slamd her cup on the desk, grabbed her gun, and dashed out.

At Hunxi Bridge.

“Make way, the police are here.” Zhang Ting sat in the police car and from afar saw a crowd gathered on the bridge, staring at sothing.

As the police arrived, the cordon was quickly set up, and the crowd stood outside the tape, chattering away.

“Let see the body.” Zhang Ting, curious as she saw a dozen officers standing motionless around a corpse, moved forward to inspect.

“Ah, what happened to this body?” Zhang Ting scread in shock, just like the other police officers.

The body had long white hair, indicating it was a woman, but the corpse was damaged and shriveled, her expression grotesquely distorted—it was indeed a dried corpse.
