291: Chapter 291: The Real Corpse 291: Chapter 291: The Real Corpse Almost instantly, everyone caught on and sward out the door to the room next door.
“Open the door,” ordered Wu Yu, and one of his bodyguards kicked the door open imdiately.
The crowd rushed in to see a woman lying on the ground, her face stricken with terror, silent with fear as she stared at the wardrobe.
“Luo, what happened?” Su Qingyu recognized the woman – Roy, the Vice Director of the Marketing Departnt at Tianya Group and a key mber of the negotiation team.
Following Roy’s gaze towards the open wardrobe, they saw a woman’s body dressed in white, dangling and swinging back and forth.
Her long hair spilled forward, covering her pale face, eerily similar to the one An Lan had encountered.
But this was a real corpse.
Ten minutes later, the police had sealed off the hotel.
With Su Qingyu and others’ comfort, Roy gradually stabilized.
Perhaps due to previous encounters with fake corpses, An Lan didn’t seem overly frightened.
Among the most distressed was Wu Yu.
Su Qingyu’s group had co to the harbor at the invitation of Wu Yu, the host, and yet they encountered a string of incidents, which was not good for the cooperation.
Fortunately, Su Qingyu was experienced with such turmoils, or else anyone else might have returned ho by now.
Manager Yu and several staff mbers looked ashen.
Ten minutes ago, a nefarious act almost cost them their jobs.
Now, a real death had occurred, which ant police interrogation was imminent.
“Mr.
Wu, what a pleasure to et you,” a male officer with high rank quietly approached Wu Yu and greeted him.
“Chief Ma.” Wu Yu was in no mood for pleasantries, leaving Chief Ma Ma Xing, the high-ranking superintendent and deputy commander of the jurisdiction, speechless upon hearing the distressing news about Wu Yu’s hotel.
“Miss Su, for all that has happened today, I apologize.” In a room, Wu Yu found Su Qingyu alone to apologize, bowing deeply to her.
“Mr.
Wu, none of this is your fault,” Su Qingyu was taken aback, and then hastily helped Wu Yu up.
“Don’t you think, Mr.
Wu, that the series of events today are too coincidental?
We at Tianya Group are not disaster stars; why would we encounter so many problems?”
“I’ve already started an investigation,” Wu Yu nodded, then whispered, “Actually, I suspect soone is deliberately obstructing Miss Su.”
“I know that the Wu Family has two choices this ti: one is the Ji Family, the other is Tianya.” Sitting in a chair and sipping hot water, Su Qingyu revived her spirit.
“Mr.
Wu, would you believe if I said I had been threatened even back in Yanjing City?”
“What?” Wu Yu exclaid in surprise.
Su Qingyu recounted the bomb threat in detail, even sending Wu Yu the photo of the note on her phone.
“So there’s really such a matter,” Wu Yu had not expected Su Qingyu to have been intimidated, especially in such a manner.
“Therefore, I suspect these events may be related to the Ji Family,” said Su Qingyu coldly.
“Perhaps it’s also connected to my elder brother,” Wu Yu gave a wry smile, then said faintly, “Actually, this cooperation largely determines the choice of the Wu Family’s heir.
In other words, if my father chooses the Wu Family, then my brother wins; if he chooses Tianya, then I win.”
Su Qingyu silently nodded.
She might not have experienced the internal strife of major families, but she understood such conflicts, much like the imperial families of ancient tis competing for the crown prince’s position.
The Wu Family, a traditional great family, was like a microcosm of an ancient dynasty.
…
Yanjing City, at the Ji Family residence.
As night fell, Yanjing City was once again a bustling sight.
Unlike the city’s glamorous vibe, the traditional Siheyuan of the Ji Family, one of Yanjing’s four major clans, was quiet and undisturbed.
This grand Siheyuan mansion, with its engraved beams and magnificent decor, radiated the vibe of a traditional courtyard.
At that mont, a shadow darted across the roof, silently landing on top.
Dressed in black, Ye Shikai was like an ancient shadow, but now his mission was to infiltrate the Ji Family to gather intelligence.
Pulling out the Netherworld King’s Helt from the Storage Ring, he activated his Inner Strength to turn invisible, and the shadow vanished into the night.
With the Netherworld King’s Helt, Ye Shikai could move freely through the heavily guarded Ji Family residence.
After entering, he found the interior to be modern despite the traditional exterior, with so rooms even decorated in a European style.
Shikai wandered around, looking for Ji Feng’s room.
“Damn, how big is the Ji Family?
Where is Ji Feng’s room?” Shikai searched but didn’t find Ji Feng’s room.
Outside the Ji Family’s gates, he had clearly seen Ji Feng’s car, which ant he must be ho.
Hiding in a corner, Shikai observed that nearly all the chambers were lit, except one that stood out in utter darkness.
Curious, he quickly approached the door and slowly pushed it open.
Night vision wasn’t a challenge for cultivators.
Shikai scanned the simply furnished room with white walls and basic equipnt.
Wiping the dust from the tables revealed regular cleaning, but none of this deceived an investigative expert like him.
There were no bed sheets or pillows, no slippers on the floor, and most tellingly, Shikai couldn’t detect any “human scent.”
No one had lived here for a long ti.
Proceeding further, Shikai noticed several photo fras on a nightstand.
Out of curiosity, he picked one up and looked at it.
The fra held a picture of a cute young girl, about ten years old, her youthful face brimming with innocence.
Shikai’s lips curled slightly; he knew this girl all too well.
That was none other than a childhood photo of Ji Qian.
