Chapter 630: Chapter 630 Poison to Silence
“Illusion Fox, what’s the situation on your end?” Ghost sat in the command vehicle, monitoring every move in the surroundings.
“The n in black over here have stopped; I’ll check behind them now.” Illusion Fox was leading a team of Netherworld Palace, ambushing not far from the black-clad n.
“Leave a live one on your end.” Ghost communicated to Illusion Fox through the earpiece.
“Yes.”
In a sudden leap, Illusion Fox’s body sprang forth, a long whip shooting out like a swift serpent, coiling around a man’s neck. With a sharp tug, the blades on the whip instantly sliced through the black-clad man’s throat. He succumbed before even registering what had happened.
“Leave a live one,” Illusion Fox commanded in a low tone. The Netherworld Palace Hidden Guards acted at once, capturing and knocking out the remaining n in black.
“Ghost, we’ve taken care of it here,” Illusion Fox stated impassively.
“Understood. Spare no one else. After dealing with them, dispose of the bodies imdiately, leaving no trace.”
“Yes.”
“Yes.”
“Phew, luckily, we were on guard here. I didn’t expect soone would actually dare to make a move on sister-in-law.” Ghost took off his headset and leaned back in relief, taking a deep breath as if unburdened. Judging by the appearance of these n—black hair, yellow skin—they were all from Huaxia. This indicated that these were not people sent by Zeus, a critical piece of information.
Under surveillance, every move of the n in black was watched by Netherworld Palace’s Hidden Guards. These guards had once been top assassins in the Underworld, so dealing with these n was no issue at all. Soon enough, they were all disposed of cleanly.
“Ghost, how should we deal with this prisoner?”
“Check if he’s carrying any electronic tracking devices, then bring him to the base,” Ghost responded quietly.
“Yes.”
………………………………
“What’s the situation now?” After receiving a text ssage from Ghost, Ye Shikai ordered the driver to head to the Netherworld Palace base, where they had already begun the interrogation.
“This guy’s tight-lipped, obviously trained in resistance to interrogation,” Ghost passed a stack of photos, “These are the faces of those n in black, and footage of their movents.”
“I suspect these might be Boss Xing’s n,” Ghost lightly proposed.
“I’m not so sure about that.” At this mont, Soul Destroyer’s voice ca from the doorway.
“What do you an?” Ghost asked.
“Boss, just as you predicted, the mont you left, that bitch Wang Qian started to move.” Soul Destroyer also handed over so photos. Within them, unmistakably, was Wang Qian leaving the business with her bodyguards.
“So you think these assassins were sent by Wang Qian,” Ghost asked with perplexity.
“Just a guess.”
“I believe these n didn’t co to assassinate,” Ye Shikai suddenly spoke up. “They’re more likely here for a kidnapping.”
“Neither Boss Xing nor Wang Qian has a motive to kill Qingyu,” Ye Shikai said, holding two stacks of photos, puzzled.
“Could they be seeking retribution against the Boss?”
“Wang Qian and I are not familiar; she wouldn’t dare to provoke soone she barely knows. As for Boss Xing, killing Qingyu would only infuriate , but he couldn’t bear my wrath.” Ye Shikai’s gaze intensified. “If I were him, I’d choose to kidnap Qingyu to blackmail .”
“My Lord speaks the truth; if these n ca sneaking in, it’s likely not for an assassination but for a kidnapping,” Ghost agreed. “Otherwise, if they truly wanted sister-in-law’s life, a bullet would be more convenient than mobilizing n, and much harder to trace.”
“That makes sense.”
“Sothing’s wrong, my Lord,” at that mont, a Netherworld Palace Hidden Guard ca rushing out, urgently stating, “The prisoner suddenly died of poison during the interrogation.”
“What?”
“What?” Everyone was shocked by the news and rushed to the interrogation room.
“Zi Yun, have you determined what the poison is?” The crowd surrounded the body, with Zi Yun conducting tests in a white lab coat.
“Poison Arrow Frog venom,” Zi Yun removed her mask, speaking plainly, “This poison is a refined concoction made from the venom of the Gold Poison Arrow Frog, highly virulent and capable of killing in a mont, leaving no ti for reaction.”
“How vicious,” Demoness remarked offhand.
“Typical for Death Soldiers,” Soul Destroyer said dispassionately, accustod to the machinations of the Underworld.
“The poison was encapsulated, and these n swallowed it before their mission. Based on the timing, the poison would act right when their task was finished,” Zi Yun added.
“What a pity; we were just about to uncover the identities of this group,” Soul Destroyer lanted, slapping the table in frustration.
“It’s alright; I think I’ve already guessed it,” Ye Shikai chuckled cunningly.
“We have photos of the attackers’ faces,” Ye Shikai said calmly.
“But we still don’t know who’s behind them,” Soul Destroyer, with hands on hips, asked doubtfully.
“We might not know, but there’s soone in Yanjing who probably does,” Ye Shikai remarked, holding the stack of photos.
………………………………
Yanjing, Ji Family Residence.
Ye Shikai sat in a car outside, preparing to et soone for the investigation—Ji Yu.
This girl, known as a spy, had nearly taken his life with a small knife last ti, all because she believed Ye Shikai abandoned her sister. Reflecting on it, it was quite frustrating to have been misunderstood by Ji Yu. It seed he could not shake off the moniker of “Chen Shii.”
“What do you want from ?” Ji Yu, in casual attire, erged from the Ji Family mansion and took the passenger seat in the car.
“Yu, I need your help with sothing.”
“Hmph, Mr. Ye, do you really think it’s possible for you to ask for my help?” Ji Yu coldly spoke up. This was the doorstep of the Ji Family; she wasn’t afraid for Ye Shikai to make a move. Perhaps in Yanjing, the person who hates Ye Shikai the most is this young lady in front of him.
“Yu, I know you don’t think much of , even hate . You believe I left chaos in my wake, acting irresponsibly, taking your sister’s undergarnts without giving her a wedding dress. I am responsible for that matter,” Ye Shikai’s tone was even but serious.
“And? You think a little bit of remorse will gain you my forgiveness?” Ji Yu seed unimpressed after hearing this. “If not because you need sothing from today, you probably wouldn’t even show up. I knew it; you just want to clear your responsibility as neatly as possible.”
“If I were really that kind of person, I wouldn’t have gone to save her,” Ye Shikai mumbled. He didn’t want to anger Ji Yu; she didn’t understand the experiences between Ye Shikai and Ji Qian.
