Chapter 57: A New Candidate for The Seven?

Three hours later.

Inside Stormfront’s apartnt bedroom, it was an absolute disaster area. The expensive, custom king-sized bed was snapped clean down the middle, the walls were riddled with fractures, and shredded clothes lay strewn across the floor.

Benjamin was shirtless. Leaning against the battered headboard, he thodically reached for a cigar from the nightstand, lit it, and took a deep drag. Beside him lay Stormfront, her skin sporting a few faint bruises.

"Ben... you finally found the ti to co see ," Stormfront said, a hint of resentnt in her voice. "I thought you’d forgotten all about , thinking I was too old and withered."

"So won are like fine wine. The older they get, the more fucking robust they taste." Benjamin exhaled a thick cloud of smoke, casually glancing at Stormfront’s ticulously defined, youthful, and disciplined face, and her striking figure, offering an objective assessnt.

"So you’re still calling old, just wrapped in a different package?" Stormfront pouted slightly with displeasure. She fired back, "Co on, Ben. My face hasn’t developed a single wrinkle since the first ti we... decades ago, alright?"

Benjamin didn’t reply. Because that was actually a fact.

"Ben, seriously." Stormfront lifted her head, looking straight into Benjamin’s eyes. "Do you really intend to... just keep going like this forever?"

"If you’ve got sothing to say, just fucking say it." Benjamin flicked the ash.

"I an... do you plan to just lounge around Vought International for the rest of your life, coasting along and waiting to die with that powerful son of yours?" Stormfront’s voice grew animated, a fanatical admiration surfacing on her sharp features. "Ben, I can feel it when you hit ! Since you got back from Russia, you’re even stronger than before! You’re the literal definition of perfection! Your strength, your son’s, and mine—combined, we could easily dismantle any army on this planet!

We don’t need these mortal capitalists barking orders at us! You could stand up right now, lead all of us pure Supes, purge the inferior genetics, and rule over the entire world! Establish a perfect empire... of our own!" Stormfront grew more and more ecstatic as she spoke, as if she could already see that fascist utopia governed by super-humans. Oh, wait. Super white humans.

Yet, what answered her wasn’t Benjamin’s agreent.

Thud!

Benjamin lunged up, burying a fist straight into Stormfront’s cheek. Stormfront took another heavy blow. But she wasn’t angry. To her, Benjamin’s violence wasn’t a punishnt.

"Stormfront, I recall warning you. Drop that racist fucking ideology of yours." Benjamin clamped his teeth on his cigar, speaking slowly. "You’re in The Seven now, so you goddamn punch the clock, show up to work, and do your job for . Don’t play these little underhanded gas behind my back. I have zero interest in ruling the world. I just want a life where I can do whatever the fuck I want, whenever I want. Do you hear loud and clear?"

"Ben~ you’re far too conservative..." Stormfront wiped the trail of blood from the corner of her mouth, whining with a trace of stubborn persistence. But taking in the way Benjamin’s eyes gradually narrowed, she wisely shut her mouth. None of her four original teammates backed her; there was nothing she could do...

Stormfront lowered her head, letting her unraveled hair drape over her face. Since Soldier Boy was a dead end... what about his son? Holander. If she fed him this theory of Supe supremacy, would he buy into it? Stormfront mulled it over and decided to give it a shot.

Though she didn’t harbor high expectations. Holander was, after all, Soldier Boy’s loyal soldier; he wasn’t likely to defy his father’s decisions over her. If everything else failed, she would just check out and slack off for the rest of her life, Stormfront cast a glance at Benjamin’s handso face, thinking silently to herself.

------

The following morning, leaving a recovering Stormfront to her own devices, Benjamin and Starlight had breakfast together in the panoramic dining room at Vought headquarters. Throughout the al, Starlight kept fishing for topics, happily chatting away about how she had caught a pickpocket on the street yesterday and broken up a robbery.

Once breakfast concluded, Ashley called for Holander and Soldier Boy. Even though she was now the CEO, she still insisted on handling certain matters hands-on for the company.

"Good morning, Mr. Soldier Boy, Mr. Holander!" Ashley said, a bit animated. "Um... regarding the current vacancies on The Seven, I have an absolutely spectacular idea that fits right into the current political correctness trend! I don’t suppose you’d be willing to spare a few minutes... to go take a look?"
