Now reading: Chapter 444: Exchanging Merits from The Broken Halo, a Fantasy novel by Anon22.

Ever since he got reincarnated to the demon realm, Simon could count the number of tis he had ever felt true regret.

But this sudden realization was competing for the top spot.

’How did I not think of that? I’m so foolish.’

’I could have placed everything I had and even everything the Iron Fangs had to make so much money.’

’Here I am struggling for a re fifty fucking thousand rits when this little girl in front of made millions through .’

The more Simon thought about the massive opportunity he just missed, the more his expression beca more and more ugly.

For a long ti now, he believed that his luck was a lot better compared to before, but it seems that was false.

’Millions. My millions.’

He shifted his attention back to Sunless, and though he could not see her expression, he could hear her giggles beneath her mask.

She took a step closer to him and looked up at him, her face was a few centitres away from Simon’s chin.

"Because you’ve made so money, I’ll have so pity on you and throw in an extra ten thousand rits. I’ll buy it for sixty thousand rits. Fair enough, right?"

Simon’s lips twitched, and though he had so many things to say, there was no way for him to say them.

If Sunless had not told him about the bet and her winnings, he would not have felt much at all.

But now?

He knew that the sixty thousand rits was nothing to her, and he would not be surprised if Sunless had more millions in her account.

Had he been talking to a millionaire all along?

If that was true, then Sunless had every right to be arrogant and to be calling herself rich.

When Sunless saw that he was not responding, she nonchalantly shrugged, then she took the severed arm and sword from Simon.

She looked at it with a curious expression.

"By the way, why have you not disposed of the sword? Why do you carry the sword with Blackblade’s arm? Why not throw his arm away?"

"Who knows." Simon answered indifferently as he watched her remove Blackblade’s hand from the sword.

She swung it a few tis, then she nonchalantly shrugged.

"h. I guess it’s not bad. I’ll just add it to my collection and sell it if I ever need money... but that would most likely not happen though."

Simon did not respond to her words. Instead, he stretched out his right hand for a handshake.

Sunless shrugged, understanding what Simon ant.

She shook his hand, then she transferred the sixty thousand rits to him.

"Done." She said with a teasing tone and a smile beneath her mask.

Simon let go of her hand, but his expression was still ugly.

He felt like he just swallowed a fly.

"You still owe food by the way. As for the debt of finding out the information about Blackblade having a master... consider it paid."

"The two million rits you won for has cleared that debt."

Simon’s lips twitched as he watched Sunless transfer the sword into her spatial ring.

"If that’s all, later Broken Halo. Don’t forget to co to class by the way. Class is boring without you."

Simon said nothing and just watched her leave.

He released a deep sigh a few seconds later, then he walked in the opposite direction.

Although he was filled with regret, at the end of the day, he had sold the sovereign ranked sword for a price that was not blatant extortion.

No matter what, sixty thousand rits was a lot of money for a first year.

On his way to his room, Simon suddenly had a thought as a bolt of realization struck him.

Why was he keeping his wealth in the currency of the Shadowgrave Clan?

What if he had to escape the clan tomorrow?

What if he had to escape this very mont?

What would happen to all his wealth?

If he exchanged the rits for hell stones, he could leave the clan at any point in ti while still possessing his wealth.

The only problem is that hell stones could be stolen but rits were safe as long as the system of the clan was working properly.

For Simon, keeping his wealth as rits was not the best decision for him to make.

So, he changed his destination.

He went to the exchange center, exchanged fifty thousand rits for hell stones and left the rest as rits.

He exchanged thirty six thousand, five hundred(36,500) rits for two high grade hell stones.

Out of the remaining thirteen thousand, five hundred (13,500) rits, he exchanged eleven thousand, five hundred and fifty (11,550) rits for eleven interdiate grade hell stones.

And he exchanged the remaining one thousand, nine hundred and fifty (1,950) rits for the sa number of low grade hell stones.

Compared to the last ti he went to the exchange center, there were various changes to the exchange rates.

An interdiate grade hell stone was previously a thousand and seventy (1,070) rits, but now it was a thousand and fifty (1,050) rits.

One high grade hell stone was previously equivalent to eighteen thousand, three hundred and sixty (18,360) rits.

But now, the worth of one high grade hell stone was eighteen thousand, two hundred and fifty (18,250) rits.

These two exchange rates had dipped, but none of these was Simon concern.

He was just relieved that he had so of his wealth secured with him.

After completing his business in the exchange center, Simon went to his room to read on chaos runes.

There was one more thing he wished he could do before reading on chaos runes, but that would have to be in the middle of the night.

And this plan of his, could solve one of his biggest problems in his right against Caesar and his factions.

Information.

"Anyway. That’s for later. Let’s read about chaos runes."

A book appeared in his hand, then he opened it and began to read.
