Rona Langdon stared at the dingy quilt. She didn’t want to stay here for even one more day!
But the thought of going back just like this was too humiliating, so she could only grit her teeth and bear it.
When Nathaniel Nathan returned to the Nathan residence, Master Nathan was playing chess against himself. Seeing him, the old man said, "The base just called. They want you to head back. There’s an urgent mission to carry out."
Nathaniel Nathan’s brows furrowed imdiately. Seeing his expression, Master Nathan asked with a smile, "What’s wrong? Can’t bear to leave Vera?"
Nathaniel Nathan’s current leave had already been quite long. In fact, he had extended it once already because of Vera. For the base to call again, it had to be an ergency.
As for Vera, he truly couldn’t bear to part with her. He’d gone to such great lengths just to get a little closer to her, and the thought of leaving her now was sothing he truly didn’t want to do. However, a military order was not sothing he could refuse.
’He had kissed her a few tis recently, getting a taste of her sweetness. Before, he could patiently endure. But now that he’d had a taste, he wished he could savor it every single day.’
He said in a low voice, "While I’m back at the base, help look after Vera. Those two won in her family are always stirring up trouble."
Master Nathan laughed. "You underestimate Vera too much. That girl is sharp as a tack. Don’t you worry. She won’t let herself be taken advantage of."
"I asked you to look after her, so why all the useless chatter?" Nathaniel Nathan grumbled, a hint of dissatisfaction in his voice.
Master Nathan pursed his lips. "You little brat. I’m your grandfather! You’re getting more and more disrespectful!"
Nathaniel Nathan glanced at him and said, "I have an idea. I need you to carry it out."
He then leaned in and whispered a few words into Master Nathan’s ear. Master Nathan’s eyes went wide as saucers. "I can’t believe that mulish blockhead of yours could co up with a plan like this! Alright, alright, I can finally rest easy. No more worrying about a scoundrel like you being unable to find a wife!"
Nathaniel finally felt a bit more at ease after making this arrangent. Master Nathan winked at him. "Since you care so much about Vera, why not just marry her and bring her ho? Go file a marriage application when you get back to the base this ti. You two should get married sooner rather than later."
Nathaniel Nathan remained silent. ’He wasn’t about to tell Master Nathan that he’d already submitted the marriage application a long ti ago. Or that he and Vera already had their marriage certificate.’
’Right now, he was mulling sothing over. If he left just like this, without saying goodbye to her, it would feel like sothing was missing.’
He glanced at the ti. There were still three hours before he had to leave. Without a mont’s hesitation, he went to find Vera.
By now, it was already dark. He really didn’t want to see the other two won of the Preston family, so he opted to simply climb the wall.
Vera was in the middle of doing practice problems when she heard a noise outside her window. She jolted. Rembering the last ti this happened, she quickly opened the window, and sure enough, there was Nathaniel Nathan’s handso and aloof face.
’She was rendered utterly speechless by him. He had just been to her house, and now he was back again! And even though he could obviously use the front door now, he still insisted on climbing the wall!’
After climbing inside, he noticed her expression and looked a little displeased. "Not happy to see ?"
"Of course not," Vera quickly placated him. "I wish I could see you every day, every second of every day."
Nathaniel Nathan looked at her rather insincere expression and knew she was just humoring him. A fresh wave of displeasure washed over him. In a cold voice, he commanded, "Kiss ."
