Zachary Preston breathed a sigh of relief when he heard her say that, little did he know that this very incident had planted the seeds of a future disaster.
When Vera Xavier ca ho from school, she felt that Rona Langdon was being almost too well-behaved today. The floor was spotless, the kitchen counters were gleaming, and dinner was already cooked. It felt like the sun had risen in the west.
Experience told her, ’When things are this unusual, sothing is definitely up!’ A Rona like this was definitely not normal.
When Rona Langdon saw her looking, she shot her a sidelong glance, the coldness and malice in her eyes completely undisguised.

Vera Xavier, however, asked Rona Langdon, "Mom, when did you learn Sichuan opera face-changing?"
Rona Langdon’s smile froze on her face. Vera, however, reached out, grabbed a fried radish fritter, and popped it into her mouth. "Mmm, delicious! Mom’s finally willing to use oil to fry sothing for us to eat. I’m so happy!"
With that, she grabbed a few more with her hand and began to eat them happily.
Rona Langdon wished she could snatch the fritters right out of her hand. She had only made a little over twenty in total and had planned on giving ten to her own mother to try. But Vera had already grabbed five or six for herself. ’How is that going to be enough!’
But Zachary Preston was there, and after he had put her in her place yesterday, she was scared of him. So, no matter how upset she was, she didn’t dare make things difficult for Vera in front of him again.
She could only say, "I heard eating too much fried food makes you slow. You should eat less, or you’ll just bla if you don’t do well on your college entrance exams."
"I won’t, I won’t!" Vera said with a smile. "It’s so rare for Mom to make sothing this delicious. Why would I ever bla you?"
