As they were leaving, Cara Preston pulled Rona Langdon back and whispered, "Mom, do you think Vera Xavier and Aaron Cheney are a good match?"
"No way!" Rona Langdon said in a cold voice. "Aaron Cheney’s family is too well-off, and his mom is fiercely protective of her own. If she marries Aaron, she’ll just be enjoying a life of luxury. How does soone like her deserve a life like that?"
"You’re right, Mom." Cara Preston chuckled lightly. "Aaron Cheney’s mother is very protective, and he’s the only son in the Cheney Family. Although Vera Xavier’s reputation has improved recently, she would never agree to let Aaron marry Vera. But if Aaron’s mother found out that Vera was trying to seduce her son..."
Rona Langdon’s eyes lit up instantly. Cara Preston smiled and added, "I know you have other plans for today, Mom. With those plans in place, her reputation will be in tatters. If Aaron Cheney’s mother cos along to kick her while she’s down, the effect should be even better."
A smile crept into Rona Langdon’s eyes as she looked at Cara Preston. "Cara, you’re just too clever!"
"It’s all because you taught well, Mom," Cara Preston said obediently.
Rona Langdon said smugly, "Of course. The children I’ve raised are all exceptional."
Cara Preston just smiled faintly at this statent. She acknowledged her own excellence but certainly didn’t feel the sa about Maxwell Preston. In her eyes, Maxwell was a selfish, self-serving bastard and a scumbag, just like Rona Langdon. She would never, ever marry Maxwell Preston.

As this thought crossed her mind, her gaze involuntarily shifted to Vera Xavier. ’She’s just so wild country girl. What gives her the right to compete with for Nathaniel Nathan!’

Vera Xavier felt a venomous gaze on her from behind. She turned her head and saw Cara Preston’s stare.
When Cara Preston saw her look over, she actually gave her a slight smile and called out sweetly, "Sister, let’s sit together later!"
The four mbers of the Preston family took a taxi to the Nathan family’s residence. Zachary Preston sat in the front passenger seat, while the other three sat in the back.
Cara Preston sat in the middle of the back seat, holding Vera Xavier’s hand the entire way, incessantly and sweetly calling her "Sister, Sister," as if the two were incredibly close. Rona Langdon, for once, didn’t say a word to stop her.
Vera Xavier glanced at the two of them and said nothing, offering only a small smile. She was tired of playing this ’loving sisters’ act with Cara Preston.
When the four Prestons arrived at the Nathan residence, Master Nathan was already waiting at the door. After they got out of the car, Master Nathan exchanged a few pleasantries with Zachary Preston before turning directly to Vera Xavier with a smile and a wink. "I had the kitchen prepare a lot of your favorite dishes today. You have to eat your fill later."
Vera Xavier smiled and thanked him. Cara Preston then jumped in to make her presence known. "Happy birthday, Mr. Nathan! May you have a long and prosperous life!"
The guests Master Nathan had invited today were all major figures in Crestfall, titans of politics or business. Seeing Master Nathan’s condition, they were all a little curious.
