Nathaniel Nathan was already shielding Vera Xavier with his body, a dangerous aura radiating from him.
A slight smile touched Vera Xavier’s lips. ’She had a strange, indescribable feeling.’
’She had t Sheldon Caldwell in her past life because he was Susan Caldwell’s biological brother! In other words, he was actually her biological brother!’
’In her past life, they had only t a few tis, and even then, it was because of Susan. They had never gotten to know each other well, so she didn’t really understand him. The Sheldon of her past life had been the high-and-mighty heir of the Caldwell family, a man who wouldn’t even deign to look her way.’
’She never expected to see him so early in this life. It seed everything had changed dramatically because of her rebirth.’
And the Sheldon Caldwell before her now looked completely different from the one she had seen from a distance in her past life. She took a nearly inaudible deep breath. ’The people she was ant to et in her past life would surely appear again in this one.’
Nathaniel Nathan said coldly, "She’s my woman. No one looks at her without my permission."
Sheldon Caldwell pursed his lips. ’He only grew more curious about Vera Xavier.’ But he knew Nathaniel Nathan’s combat prowess all too well. If he tried to force a look now, he would definitely get beaten up. Besides, they were both skilled fighters, and coming to blows on a public street would be unseemly.
"As if I’m dying for a look," Sheldon Caldwell snorted. "I just ca by to relay a ssage from the Chairman: Return to the unit imdiately. We have a mission!"
In truth, a simple phone call would have sufficed to recall Nathaniel Nathan. But since Sheldon Caldwell happened to be on leave in Crestfall, he was asked to deliver the ssage so they could return to the unit together.
Although Nathaniel Nathan couldn’t stand the sight of Sheldon Caldwell, he knew that an order from a superior could not be disobeyed. So, he asked, "When’s the mission?"
"Five days from now," Sheldon Caldwell replied.
"Got it. I’ll be back in five days, right on ti," Nathaniel Nathan said in a low voice.
Sheldon Caldwell’s eyes went wide. "Back on ti in five days? What are you going to do until then?"
"As long as I’m back on ti, what does the rest have to do with you?" Nathaniel Nathan said coldly, then walked away with his arm around Vera Xavier.
Sheldon Caldwell was left speechless again. In principle, Nathaniel Nathan wasn’t wrong. The Chairman had only required him to be on ti for the mission. Normally, however, one would return to the unit at least a day in advance to prepare.
But from the sound of it, Nathaniel Nathan intended to return on the very day of the mission. Sheldon pursed his lips and said, "I see. The Chairman shows you a little favor, and you start letting it get to your head!"
"If you’ve got the skills, then make the Chairman give you special treatnt too." Nathaniel Nathan’s retort almost made Sheldon Caldwell cough up blood in frustration. He was outstanding, but whether he was willing to admit it or not, he was ultimately just a tad inferior to Nathaniel Nathan.
’I’m not worse than Nathaniel,’ he consoled himself. ’I’m just more disciplined and follow the company’s rules, unlike that arrogant jerk!’
After Nathaniel Nathan left with Vera Xavier, Sheldon Caldwell turned his head toward the nearby woods and yelled, "Get out here!"
Shane Caldwell erged with a smile. "Bro, when did you spot ?"
Sheldon Caldwell shot him a look. "What do you take for? I’m the all-around champion from the company’s grand competitions. If I couldn’t even spot a punk like you, what kind of expert would I be?"
Shane Caldwell chuckled and asked curiously, "You’re amazing, Bro. Who’s stronger, you or Nathaniel Nathan?"
