The deity told I was bound to run into a scoundrel on this trip, so he granted unparalleled luck. He said that as long as I trusted my intuition, I’d be able to completely crush any shaless lowlifes. The Buddha, truly, does not deceive!"
Everyone was speechless.
’Young lady, where is this Buddha you speak of? We want to go pay our respects, too!’
Among them, only Aaron Cheney’s mouth twitched. Crestfall had a few temples, but he had never once seen Vera Xavier visit any of them! ’Sister-in-law, could you at least try to make your lies believable?’
Alistair Forrest stepped forward. "Honey, I’ll take all of your jade!"
The team of consultants behind him was filled with admiration. With jade like this, their trip had been more than worthwhile. "The Young Master is truly incredible! To think he could even foresee this!"
Vera Xavier nodded with a smile. "In that case, let’s cut open the rest of them!"
And so, they cut open several more pieces, revealing more icy jade, and even one extrely rare piece of Yellow Jade!
A haul like this was a hundred tis more impressive than what a professional jade consultant could manage. What was most important was that Vera Xavier had picked the stones with the worst outward appearance. No one had achieved such results since the day The Jade Market opened for business.
Finally, only the large stone block remained. After the cutter sliced it open, the kaleidoscopic colors inside dazzled everyone’s eyes. When all the colors were finally revealed...
Susan Caldwell’s jade consultant and Alistair Forrest’s entire team went wild. "Red, green, yellow, white, purple... My heavens, five colors! It’s a Five-Fortune Arrival!"
Vera Xavier was completely baffled by the looks on their faces. She had wanted to ask the equally stunned Alistair Forrest what a "Five-Fortune Arrival" was, but on second thought, she decided against it. ’I can’t reveal I’m a complete novice. I’ll just hold my tongue!’
The head of Alistair Forrest’s team of consultants, incredibly excited, said to him, "Young Master, it’s a Five-Fortune Arrival! A national-treasure-level Five-Fortune Arrival! A find-of-a-lifeti Five-Fortune Arrival! You absolutely must find a way to get your hands on it!"
Alistair Forrest’s expression was complicated as he looked at Vera Xavier. She had been perfectly calm from the very beginning—never rushed, never agitated, never angry, and never arrogant. She was just like this yesterday during her clash with Susan Caldwell, and she was the sa way earlier today when the rough stones yielded nothing. And now, even after revealing a Five-Fortune Arrival, she was *still* like this!
’She’s been so composed this whole ti. It seems even a treasure of national-level importance can’t faze her.’
What Alistair Forrest didn’t know was that the reason for her composure wasn’t that she was unmoved by the "Five-Fortune Arrival." It was that she simply had no idea of its value. If she knew, she certainly wouldn’t be acting so calm.
At that very mont, a huge explosion ca from a room behind them. The resulting shockwave shattered the office windows, showering the floor with glass shards.
Everyone jumped in shock, with no idea what had just happened outside.
In truth, while they had been busy cutting stones, Nathaniel Nathan had already launched his operation to close the net.
In the building at the very back of The Jade Market, a fierce fight had been raging for so ti. However, due to the deafening noise of the stone-cutting machine, everyone’s attention was fixed on the jade. No one had noticed a thing happening outside.
The explosion had occurred because a drug lord had detonated explosives. The two buildings weren’t far from each other, so they had been caught in the blast.
