On the shelves lining the opposite wall, modern professional books were neatly arranged. There were books on military affairs, politics, firearms, and weaponry—he had it all.

She took a quick glance around. His room was mostly filled with books, a collection vast enough to rival a small library.

She pulled a book from the shelf at random and glanced inside. It was filled with all sorts of annotations and personal reflections. She had been using his books lately, so she was quite familiar with his handwriting.

Nathaniel let her browse while he personally brewed a pot of tea. Soon, the fragrance of tea filled the room.

Vera had always known Nathaniel was exceptional, but she never realized he’d grown up in such a cultured environnt. He himself was clearly a man of imnse knowledge and taste.
