The day Vera ran off, Cara Preston had been nearly chewed out by Rona Langdon. Things had been rough for her these past two days, and she was feeling irritable, so hearing Vera get cursed out made her feel a lot better.

In her mind, this was Vera’s last day of school anyway, so she couldn’t be bothered to keep up the pretense.

Seeing Vera’s completely calm expression, Elise Langdon grew annoyed and shouted, "So people are so shaless! Still daring to show their face at school and be a disgrace after scoring a zero every ti!"

She then turned to Cara Preston. "Cara, you and a certain soone are supposed to be sisters, but you two are worlds apart. How can you stand having such a failure of a sister?"

Cara Preston said faintly, "Elise, don’t say that. Even if she’s slow, she’s still my sister."

Then she turned to Vera and said, "Sister, you really shouldn’t have co to school today. You’re just setting yourself up for humiliation."

Vera ignored her and remained firmly seated.

Shane Caldwell said coldly, "If she gets another zero, Ms. Taylor will personally kick her out. What’s the rush?"

He glanced over at Vera after he spoke and saw that she was still completely unfazed, as if their words hadn’t affected her in the slightest.

Shirley Forrest walked over to Vera’s side and asked, "Are you confident?"

Vera said with a smile, "I’m still hoping we can be friends."

Shirley Forrest nodded. "Then do your best."

Vera smiled. The class bell rang, and Shirley Forrest returned to her seat.

A mont later, Juliana Taylor entered carrying a large stack of test papers. Her expression was grim, and the class imdiately fell silent.

She scanned the class and said, "This mock exam... you’ve all disappointed greatly! If you perform at this level on the college entrance exams a month from now, forget about getting into a top-tier university. Hardly any of you would even make it into a second-tier, third-tier, or vocational school!"

After she had chewed out a number of students, Elise Langdon retorted indignantly, "Ms. Taylor, it’s not our fault we bombed the test! Would we have done so badly if it weren’t for Vera?"

Her comnt imdiately drew a chorus of agreent from other students:

"Exactly! Who knows how much higher our class average would be without her? She’s the black sheep of the class!"

"Her being in our class just gives us a bad na! She’s here to ruin us!"

"Vera Xavier, get out of our class!"

Juliana Taylor flew into a rage. She grabbed the blackboard eraser and hurled it at Elise Langdon’s face. "You ca in dead last in the class! Are you proud of that?"

Elise Langdon was stunned, her face sared with chalk dust from the eraser. "I... How could I be last in the class? Isn’t Vera always last?"

Juliana Taylor ignored her and announced loudly, her voice filled with excitent, "For this mock exam, every student in this class deserves to be criticized. However, there is one student who must be praised, and that is Vera Xavier..."

"No matter how much she ’improved,’ the best she could do is, what, ten or twenty points? She definitely just copied from the student in front of her," Elise Langdon grumbled, dissatisfied. "What’s there to praise?"

Juliana Taylor shot her a sideways glare and continued, "This ti, Vera Xavier has surpassed our class president, Shane Caldwell, and our academic representative, Shirley Forrest, to beco number one in the class and number three in the entire grade!"

As soon as she said this, the entire class was dumbfounded. In an instant, the room was utterly silent, every student’s eyes filled with disbelief.
