An excerpt from the journal of Shuye Skullcrusher, Guardian of the Ancient Hill Forest:
I prepared for the wrong thing. The huge cabbage was so eye-catching that I expected mayhem to occur and so I made sure to have a hundred guards during the days it was exhibited to the public, but nothing much happened. Based on what the experts said, the spirit cabbage was normal except for its size.
My mistake was that I was too distracted by the threat of people mobbing the giant cabbage exhibition that I didn’t pay enough attention to what she called “botanical waste product” that could be recycled. She told it was not a crop but a plant she was using for pest control and suggested it could perhaps be used as a weak insect repellant.
Well, as it turns out, the auction house’s alchemist identified Lady Violet’s “silverleaf” as the near-mythical Ninefold Heavens Void-Shattering Leaf of Ten Thousand Tribulations, a plant that beca extinct thousands of years ago. It had many uses, but the important one was that it was the main ingredient for a youth potion.
The next day, when this news was announced, clan mbers, human cultivators, and rchants rushed to the auction house via the portals. That was pretty much expected of any popular event, and the auction house had plenty of guards to handle this type of excitent. The problem was that the news spread to the entire continent and it seed like everyone in Anwei and anyone who could afford the portal fees ca to the auction to gawk.
It was absolute mayhem! People were shoving each other and the crowd was so dense the guards were afraid people would be crushed. The event had to be postponed, obviously.
Thank the gods for my wife. She was the one who advised to let the auction house handle it (for a percentage of the profit, of course) which ant they were the ones who received hundreds of letters from clients seeking compensation for portal fees and their wasted ti.
