"You’re right."
Lin Guang nodded, pleased with Vishdair’s rare display of brainpower, "If they were all fakes, no fool would ever fall for it a second ti. So, even for a natural Hundred Egg Turtle, there’s so real deal in the eggs it lays. They’re highly nutritious and delicious too. You could say it’s a sacrifice for them as well."
After pausing, Lin Guang added, "Also, the Hundred Egg Turtle, though war-averse, is not weak. It’s not easy to hunt, so most predators choose to patiently ’open blind boxes’ to find eggs to eat. By the way, this habit has led a carnivorous bird spirit beast, the ’Thieving Parrot’, to discover a thod of laziness. They mimic the predators’ roars to force the Hundred Egg Turtle to lay eggs, then leisurely use their sharp beaks to open the eggs."
Vishdair didn’t respond, but watched the beach full of eggs in a daze. According to Lin Guang’s understanding, she must have only absorbed the words "highly nutritious and beautifully flavored."
Simply put, she was craving them again.
"You sure know a lot," a young man who looked like a college student suddenly interjected, "But I advise you to just look and not think of challenging it. I suspect there’s quite a bit of water in this. There are probably only five or six real eggs. Over ten people have tried already, and the best result is finding four eggs, which is just a third prize and not even breaking even."
"Are you one of them?"
"Uh..." The young man awkwardly rubbed his nose, "That’s right, I was the one who got the third prize. I thought with my Two-Star Spirit Master level, I could rely on close-range Ether Perception to differentiate and get a first or second prize. I thought it was just my incompetence, but later, soone who claid to be a junior researcher also only got a third prize. I felt sothing was off, so I called the complaint line. The regulators will check for any trickery soon."
Soone nearby heard the conversation and murmured, "Even a Two-Star Spirit Master can’t handle it? Is it that hard?"
It’s known that a Two-Star Spirit Master is not considered low level, comparable to an average graduate of a Spirit Master major in university. Even if they don’t make progress after graduating, joining a wilderness exploration team for a support job could easily earn them over ten thousand a month.
After all, not everyone can attend a prestigious school.
Does this event have any deceit in it?
Maybe, but the other party probably wasn’t doing it on purpose.
Lin Guang looked at the host standing on the sandy ground. It seed that due to the poor performance of the previous ten or so challengers, no matter how the host shouted, no one was coming up. Sweat was beading on his forehead, and he looked anxious.
What many didn’t know was that the age of the Hundred Egg Turtle could be gauged by the patterns on its shell, similar to a tree’s annual rings. A rough look would reveal this turtle is about eighty or ninety years old. It’s an expert at laying and faking eggs, which is why most people didn’t achieve the expected results.
Even with Lin Guang’s current Eye of Omniscience and Omnipotence level, he couldn’t discern which eggs were real.
"How about turtle at for lunch?" Lin Guang suddenly asked Vishdair.
"Weren’t we supposed to eat all-you-can-eat barbecue?"
"Well, there’s money to be made, and I can help soone out."
"You?"
Vishdair looked at him skeptically. Though she didn’t understand anything about the Hundred Egg Turtle, the fact that it’s used in a promotional event ant the challenge wasn’t easy. Lin Guang was just a student not yet of age; could he really have such skills?
"What, you don’t believe ? Want to bet on it?"
"A bet it is."
"If I pick out all the real eggs, you have to learn thirty common Great Xia characters this weekend."
"*Kazdail expletive*!"
Instantly, Vishdair’s amber eyes widened as she shook her head, her two red tendrils nearly flicking Lin Guang in the face, "Thirty characters?! Are you even human? No way, no way!"
Lin Guang nonchalantly took a step back, then scolded with disappointnt, "You back out at thirty? You really want to watch play with my phone and computer for life while you stay a primitive person, don’t you? At the rate you’re going, you won’t even be able to order takeout. Even if you don’t want to respect knowledge, at least respect the great inventions of the information age!"
Vishdair was at a loss for words, feeling a bit embarrassed, she gritted her teeth and let out an adorably clueless sound, "Guh..."
"Are you so sure you’ll win! Let’s bet then! I don’t believe you can really pick them out!"
"Well, you’re in for disappointnt."
Seeing her take the bait, Lin Guang smirked, "Watch closely. Your partner isn’t just so ordinary high schooler."
Walking through the crowd, Lin Guang asked the host, "Can I challenge it now and eat at noon?"
Seeing Lin Guang’s youthful face, the host was montarily stunned before joyfully motioning him over, "Of course, of course! We’re a chain; we’ve got gift cards!"
After transferring 1000 Daxia Coins to the host, they imdiately beckoned him onto the stage, shouting at the crowd, seemingly trying to stir up the atmosphere. However, the crowd wasn’t foolish. Based on the performance of the previous dozen or so people, achieving a high score in this type of challenge was almost only plausible for high-star Spirit Masters or researchers. Lin Guang’s age didn’t match either category, making their reactions subdued.
The host reluctantly put down the microphone and ordered the staff to carry equipnt and a bamboo basket to follow Lin Guang. The forr was used to detect Ethereal Fluctuation, preventing anyone from secretly bringing in spirit beasts to cheat – though spirit patterns weren’t included, as they were considered part of the Spirit Master’s own abilities.
Lin Guang walked onto the beach, patting the thick shell of the Hundred Egg Turtle as he passed. It glanced at him with tiny eyes filled with disdain, as if mocking his overconfidence.
Kneeling down, Lin Guang looked at a white-and-yellow speckled turtle egg in the sand. After hesitating for a mont, he picked it up, and a subtle, nearly invisible light blossod in his hand.
The Hand of Full Mastery activated.
The next mont, the earth attribute ether attached to the egg distorted and fluctuated like ripples. Lin Guang felt the weight in his hand suddenly lighten, becoming like an empty shell, before quickly restoring to its "original" weight.
—Just as expected.
Lin Guang smiled lightly.
Of course, he knew that without locking in a level-one talent yet or spending ti to study, his use of the Hand of Full Mastery was still in a primitive state.
But his mind was intact; primitive didn’t an he couldn’t find a way to use it.
For instance, by forcibly interfering with the effect of the earth attribute ether and discovering that this egg was practically hollow, it naturally ant it was a fake!
